PostSubject: 2010 Star Wars Vintage Collection   Mon May 17, 2010 11:11 pm

I wasn't sure what area to post this in....

So, who here is going to take the plunge? I like the VOTC and VTSC, and I must admit the upcoming collection looks pretty cool. I'm still a bit on the fence I think, but maybe it'll be something I enjoy. If Hasbro does commit a full two years to this line, it will look nice when it's all together. HOWEVER, if I do decide to collect them, I WILL NOT get any of the prequel figures. Thank The Maker that I am not a completist! By ignoring the prequel figures, I think I'll be able to manage. I just don't know yet if I'm going to bite. Am I just being a cynical old fart? Anyone care to chime in?

Im a vintage pursit so i defo wont be going for them.

I actually have 2 VSTC sets that i cant even give away the price has fell off that much i reckon the 2010 which be worth less than half its retail price after been out for a few years like 99% of modern does. It doesnt help that Hasbro saturates the market as well.

They should look at how the Kurbricks were distributed christ some of them sell for more than vintage MOC's!!

Yeah, I hear you about the resale value, which is non-existant. I decided to sell pretty much ALL of my Modern, then was taken back by the lack of response and people wanting something for nothing. So, I might as well keep what I absolutely want, and give the rest to a local charity so it will be appreciated. What matters to me though, is how I personally feel about the items in my collection, not the resale. It's fun to know the value of things, but I collect to collect, not to monitor the prices. I think that as long as I can keep up with it and Hasbro doesn't go "exclusives crazy", it might actually be kinda fun. I'm not liking the prices that the usual suspects are charging for preorders, so I'll just have to see.

I do occasionally pick up a few modern items a year. So far the only things I can see myself getting are the mail away Fett, CV exclusives, and a Luke Jedi if they come out with one.

I'll probally just pick up the vintage line of figures. Prequel and expanded universe I could care less about, I didn't even care much for the last three movies.

Exactly. I think Hasbro is going to reap the whirlwind by trying to release Vintage style renditions of prequel characters. I firmly believe that after the "ooh-aah" factor wears off with the people that actually want them, they are going to be pegwarmers. Of course, now that I've said that....

Thats when I'm going to get mine, when they become peg warmers. lol! Damn, paying $9.00 for a figure, I'll wait until they are 2 for $5.00 like what Kaybe's used to do.

The suggested retail for these will be $7. That's the "normal" price for figures these days without clamshells, which is fine by me since I prefer to use my own Star Cases. Of course you have "preorder prices" of $11.99 each at sites like BBTS and Brian's Toys. You also have to factor in Hasbro's inability to release waves and cases in a manner that makes sense. Wave 1 is only 1 of each character except Darth Vader. There is already a Wave 1 revision case in the works that will get rid of Dack Ralter altogether in favor of adding a second Boba Fett. Absolute rubbish.

Wave 1 SHOULD be 2 each of 6 characters, and so on. But, that would make too much sense.

Also, another series of questions....

Since the "Free Boba Fett" stickers are supposed to be removable without causing damage, does anyone plan on removing them? If so, remove all? Remove some? Buy yet another figure or set of figures to have both? When you receive your Fett, where are you going to put it? With your true Vintage collection? With the new Vintage?

If the only way to get it is from the stickers, I'd get enough extras to get it. And it will be with the new stuff since its modern and not vintage.

Agreed. I'm still not sure if I will remove the stickers or not, because I want to be able to see the cool pictures. I'll probably take some off and leave others.

Yeah I got your PM and updated my profile.

On June 1st, I will have the Jedi-Con 4-LOM/Zuckuss set on the way to me. I guess I've made my decision. Smile

Here's to hoping the Vintage Collection does well, and most importantly, stays at a decent price and can be found!

Entertainment Earth has Wave 1 up for preorder as well, but they state that it is C-3PO that will have 2 figures, not Vader. Good grief. I guess everybody's not going to have their shit straight until the figures start shipping.

Pictures of Wave 2 are making the rounds, and I think they look like shit. Afterall, they are from ROTS! The only one of this wave I would want is the Sandtrooper, if the packaging looks cool. Looks like I'll be able to save a lot of money on this wave, should I decide to start getting this series.
