As a few of us had been talking about WWF recently when it was really big in the late eighties - early nineties I wondered if any of you guys were fans at the time or remember
the toys/trading cards etc ?

Just recently tracked down this pretty sad list of dead WWF stars, just can't believe some of the names on it:

http://www.wwecritic.com/dead-wwfwwe-wrestlers-that-died-in-the-last-10-years/

My favourite tag team was Legion of doom and I think its safe to say I was one of Ultimate Warriors little "Warriors" lol! !

Although there is a documentary called "The self desctruction of the Ultimate Warrior"
which shows him in a pretty bad light LOL (greedy, stupid, no technique!) - who cared as a kid though, he had cool face paint and could pick people up!

I remember most of those grew up loving to watch WWF as well

Same as you Joe always liked legion of doom aka the road warriors always remember a video i got of a grudge match with legion of doom and some russian tag team never seen so much hate and blood was awsome lol

Watch the modern wrestling now and then dont think it compares to the old stuff though however they did have an excibition match with i think scott stinner tag teamed with animal even though they pretty old now still in good form and wouldnt want to get beat up by them thats for sure lol.

I was always a big Undertaker fan.

I use to have a number of the old figures including legion of doom.

It's crazy how some guys die at an early age what was the guy that fell form the rafters I remember watching that pay-per-view. I think he was related to the British Bulldog in some way.

That was Brett "the Hitman" Harts brother and if I remember right, Bulldogs brother-in-law. Like they say, all the good ones go first. Look at what Mick Foleys been through and he's still around. Very Happy

I didn't know about Umaga until this morning. It was under the most searched on Yahoo and I had to find out what he did, never expecting that.
Here's the article if no ones read it yet.

Eki “Eddie” Fatu died in Houston on Friday after a massive heart attack, adding to a long list of professional wrestlers who died by the age of 40.

The 36-year old Fatu, who achieved his greatest fame in recent years as a star in the industry-leading World Wrestling Entertainment under the name “Umaga,” was found unconscious in his Spring, TX living room by his wife, who had him rushed to the hospital. Fatu had a second heart attack in the hospital before he died.

Fatu, who was memorable for his distinct facial tattoos, comes from a large family of Samoan wrestlers who have influenced the business for several generations, beginning with his uncles, the brother combination of Afa and Sika Anoi’a, which was a successful act known as “The Wild Samoans” in the 1970s and ’80s. The most famous member of the clan is cousin Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who left wrestling for Hollywood fame.

Fatu’s career peak came in 2007, as he co-headlined Wrestlemania 23 in Detroit, a card that received a ton of publicity for a storyline involving WWE owner Vince McMahon and Donald Trump. But his run at the top was short-lived, and he was released from his WWE contract on June 8 when he refused to go into rehab after a second violation of the WWE’s drug policy.

Fatu had recently returned from an independent wrestling tour of Australia when he was stricken.

“On behalf of my family, the Anoa’i and Fatu family, we are devastated and shocked by the loss of our Eki,” Afa Anoa’i told the Wrestling Observer. Our son, nephew, brother, cousin, husband, father. Our hearts are broken, and words can’t express what each of us are feeling. It is so comforting to know how loved Eki is by his family, peers, friends, and most of all his fans.”

A staggering number of young pro wrestlers have died over the past 10 years, leading some to believe the industry has a curse. Among the most notorious cases were Chris Benoit, 40, who committed suicide in Georgia in 2007 after murdering his wife, Nancy, and son Daniel; Eddie Guerrero, 38, who died of a heart attack in 2005 in a Minnesota hotel room; and Owen Hart, 33, who died in Kansas City in 1999 after a stunt went awry on a live television shoot. In March, another former WWE wrestler, Andrew “Test” Martin, 34, died after an Oxycontin overdose.

I don't believe that list is complete. There several others thats not on it.

If steroids is a factor I wonder how long it takes MLB players to pass.... I'm sure that's a big part of it the heart doesn't grow to support all that body mass either...

Alot of them wasn't steroids. Look at Test, Oxycontin OD. Miss Elizabeth was another drug overdose in Lex Lugers house. Benoit was a suicide from a mix of things, steroids, alcohol, and stress. Thats what they say about most of them, stress from being on the road 99% of the year away from home and family. But like Tank said, steroids probally did play a factor in a good bit of them.

I think the stress is a large part of it. Stress of performing 300 days a year, being on the road so much & stress on the body. Add drugs (steroids & recreational) & you've got a recipe for disaster. Add other guys to this list who are stuffed at an early age too (ie Brett Hart).

It was the Iron Man match that Shawn and Brett had. Brett was leaving to go to WCW and was going to take the belt with him. But Vince had the ref do a fast count on Brett so he'd loose the belt. Theres a documentry on Bretts life and the was in the end of it.

Did you hear about Dr. Death Steve Williams? He's another one to add to the deceased list. He died Dec. 30th.

Did anyone watch TNA this week? Jeff Hardy, Shannon Moore, Ric Flair, Razor Ramon, X-Pac, and Nasty Boys showed up over there when Hulk Hogan made his first appearence on there. I was crazy.
