| Since we were speaking about arcade games in the time crisis thread I thought it would be worth discussing our all time favourite arcade games and if we had the money and the space for a games room what we would all put in there?? Prices, pictures can all be put in here |

| Just for the record I don't own any, just wish I did! Those three would definitely be a good start! I don't think I could stop at just a few though , and at 1-5 K each that would be a problem very quickly |

| What game is that AJ? I hear you Dan, expensive and heavy and boredom could set in! I think it would be hard for anyone outside the US / UK or Asia to really have a chance to get an arcade machine collection going especially if you wanted to constantly switch the games around, just too expensive to import them and find them round here! Maybe when I win the lottery and can move over to the US (coz they only let wealthy people in ) then I will lol |

| All the Co-op beatem up games of the 90s were great....
- X-men - Simpsons - TMNT
Then you got to go to the fighting games that started it all...
- Street Fighter 2 - Mortal Kombat 1 - Mortal Kombat 2 |

| I think Shawn and I have spoken about arcade games in the past and we talked about the X-Men game , sure he sent me a video link about comparing all the console/arcade X-men games and that was by far the best!
I don't remember if I played the TMNT game...maybe I did!
I did enjoy street fighter and mortal kombat, great button bashing games!
Did Golden Axe come out on an arcade machine? Was a bit like streets of rage but with swords and skeletons! |

| Some very great games mentioned here. I always loved going to the arcade as a kid and a part of me certainly wishes that they were still popular today. Here's a picture I snapped of the arcade I spent most of my time in when they were renovating it for a new store in the mall. Pretty sad day for me. In the 80's I played a lot of the classic games like Pac-man, Centipede, Space Invaders. Another one that I remember playing quite a bit is Ikari Warriors. I was probably about 7 or 8 at the time and this was still when my family lived in Las Vegas. There was a gas station not far from my house that friends and I would go to. I used to get Garbage Pail Kids cards there, candy, and they had the Ikari Warriors cabinet that I'd throw a few quarters at. I don't think I ever got too far in the arcade version, but later on went through the game on the NES. Then came along all the fighting games. I'm sure I spent way too much money in my early teens on SF2 in the arcade. That was the game that everyone talked about during school and it seemed like you could find a cabinet anywhere. The arcades had it, gas stations, Wal-Mart, etc. I remember it being quite the deal to just wait to get a play on the thing. Also, all the rumors of a home version coming soon. My cousin was the first one who introduced me to Mortal Kombat and I remember being blown away by the digitized actors, blood, and fatalities. I was one who liked both games and never really preferred one over the other. One other mention is Virtua Fighter. I was never really good at this one, but thought the polygon graphics were amazing for the time. I also enjoyed the side scrolling beat em up games that have been mentioned. The Simpsons, X-Men, TMNT, etc games were always fun. One of your cheaper movie theatres had most of those games, so I would play, while waiting to meet up with friends for a movie. During much of this time, I was also a Star Wars fan/collector. Star Wars acrcade machines were few and far between, but there were a few that I enjoyed. There's the original arcade game with the vector graphics. One of the first games that you could reenact the trench run from A New Hope. Around the time of the Street Fighter 2 craze this pinball game came out. It is the first one that I remember incorporating a screen above the machine that showed pixilated clips from the movie, scoring, etc. The game also had music and sound clips throughout the whole time while playing. I recently got to play this again at a pinball museum earlier this year. A little later Sega came out with Star Wars Trilogy Arcade. The main levels that I can remember on this is a speeder bike type level and another in echo base where your on foot shooting snowtroopers. You didn't have full control of the main character but I still enjoyed it. The last game I'll mention is the Episode 1 Racer Game. I found this game a lot of fun and some places had 4 of them hooked up together for racing friends. I have a friend who builds MAME cabinets and when I eventually get a bigger place, would love to have one. It is at least one way to enjoy some of these games with a similar type experience. And a lot cheaper than owning several cabinets. |
