PostSubject: Rebel Commando Limelight   Tue Dec 28, 2010 9:00 pm

Well... it's been a long time since I've done an official limelight. So long that I thought I would just start a new thread, since it's basically a completely new set up.

As some of you know I had a small fiasco with the collection room earlier this year. So most of this stuff has been in storage patiently waiting until I could finally get things sorted out. So finally with less than a week to go in the year, I got the RC's up and displayed again. It's been a long road and I'm still no where near done, but this feels so good that I just had to share with you all. BTW, what do you think of the paint color? Wink

First up is the overall shot of the RC display. Left side is the Kenner case, middle is pre-production and the right is the foreign side of things.

Here is the top shelf of the Kenner side:

From Right to Left: 65A, 65B, 65B w/coin offer sticker

Second shelf:

From Right to Left: 65C, 65C w/coin offer sticker, 77A w/coin offer sticker, 77A

Third shelf:

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.][You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] border="0" alt="" />
From Right to Left: 79B, three Polish Unarticulated bootlegs, ROTJ multi-pack, 79B w/coin offer sticker

Fourth shelf is where my budding Endor Forest Ranger focus lives:

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.][You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] border="0" alt="" />
From Right to Left: MIB Tri-Logo, Loose Kenner, Loose No COO, MIB Canadian. The loose RC's are all the various COO's.

Next up is the Foreign side of the display.

Top shelf:

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.][You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] border="0" alt="" />
From Left to Right: TolToys, Canadian 65, Meccano, Tri-Logo miscard with Hoth Rebel Soldier, Tri-Logo w/etched bubble

Second shelf. I call this the import shelf:

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.][You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] border="0" alt="" />
From Left to Right: Kenner 77A w/White Clipper Sticker, Palitoy 65B Double Stem Bubble w/Black Clipper Sticker, Palitoy 65C w/Italian Import Sticker, Palitoy 65C w/Black Clipper Sticker, Kenner 65A w/Japanese Tsukuda Sticker

Third shelf is all Palitoy's:

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.][You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] border="0" alt="" />
From Left to Right: Palitoy 65A, Palitoy 65B w/Double Stem Bubble, Palitoy 65CC Made in China w/RC exclusive HG on the back of the card. This also has a Palitoy Bubble, 65C Made in Hong Kong w/Tri-Logo Bubble

And now on the to the pre-production case.

Top shelf:

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.][You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] border="0" alt="" />
From Left to Right: Kenner 65A proof, Bubble Test. The bagged figures in the front are Internal Kenner Store Rebel Commander w/Rebel Commando Sticker, Rebel Commando Baggie, Internal Kenner Store Rebel Commando w/Rebel Commander Sticker

Second shelf:

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.][You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] border="0" alt="" />
From Left to Right: Dynacast Hardcopy Head, Hand Painted Protomold Rebel Commando, Unused production arms and leg

Third shelf:

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.][You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] border="0" alt="" />
From Left to Right: Unproduced POTF Cromalin, Unproduced POTF Proof Card, Photo Transparency of the shot used for the cardback

Next is the modern pre-production side of the focus. I know, I know, it's modern, but I really feel this helps break things up a bit. Plus it's always fun to get pre-production items. Whether that's vintage or modern.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.][You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] border="0" alt="" />
From Left to Right: Saga Endor Rebel Soldier mock up on Captain Typho card, Unused Endor Forest Ranger Tri-Logo cardback w/hanger tag still attached, Endor Forest Ranger first shot without peg holes or dates molded in non-production colors

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.][You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] border="0" alt="" />
From Left to Right: POTF2 Freeze Frame Canadian Signed Sample, POTF2 Freeze Frame Kenner QC Sample, POTF2 Freeze Frame Japanese Signed Sample, Two Attacktix first shots one in production colors with tracking stamps and the other in non-production colors.

Lastly is a couple of pieces that are absolutely irreplaceable. These are some custom art pieces that I've had done by some very dear friends.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.][You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] border="0" alt="" />
On top is a gift from Joe_O this is an original piece of art from Jeff (jpc_art) on RS. On the bottom is the original pencil sketch done by our very own Hyver.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.][You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] border="0" alt="" />
On top is a custom airbrushed painting done by Josh_T. On the bottom is the plaque I won for the tattoo competition at C5, signed by the tattoo artist.

I hope you all enjoyed my little limelight. I have more stuff to come as soon as the room gets more complete.

It's looking great Chris! I'm glad to see your focus back on display and love the rebel commando wall paint. Smile I also like how each shelf is divided to certain areas of the focus. I can't wait to see future updates.

Always a treat to see the RC's in force Chris, really like the new colours you painted the walls!

My favourite section on display is the pre production , followed by the framed art and tattoo plaque then of course the awesome carded collection you have. I don't think you are completely sane to track down ALL the Palitoy and Clipper combinations going but your collection benefits greatly from all the hard work you put into finding them Wink

Insane run , thanks for sharing Smile

Wow this is the first time i see your collection . You have earned the right to your name :-)

I love the miscard with Hoth Rebel Soldier. I can remember some times seeing cards like this when i was a kid in the stores. ( should have brougt and saved them , togethher with the Niem Numb tri logo with five guns in the bobbel :-( .

What is the story about the Internal Kenner Store baggies ? Where it figures that only the workers could by ?
And are there Vehicle out there from that store ?

And how can you tel em apart for normal baggies / Vehicle ? By the orange label or what ?

I have never seen or heard about them before.

Thanks
Soren

Thanks for all the wonderful comments guys! I really appreciate them! It's been a long road getting this display back up and running. 2010 has been a shite year for us, so I am over the moon to have this room back and looking as good as it does.

To answer your question Soren. These Internal Kenner Store bagged figures are literally from the Kenner employee store. There's nothing special about them other than the fact that they are a figure in a generic baggie. The label on them is the red label from the ESB vinyl carrying case. Most of them that I have seen don't have the correct weapons either. And the two I have aren't even labeled correctly. Smile What makes them neat and unique is the provenance behind them and the fact that they came from the employee store.

That's some fine focus collection you have there Chris!!

I took the time going through all your pics and enjoyed watching your items very much.

What's on your Rebel Commando wish list now?

BTW: In what respect the no COO and Kenner Endor Forest Rangers differ? At least I can see they were cast in different green plastics.
