PostSubject: The vintage commercial break ( Non SW vintage toy Ads )   Tue Jan 25, 2011 7:46 pm

Hi guys

I have noticed that a lot of us love old toy ads . Not just SW , but all the ads that we sat drooling over when we where kids.
Or just cool ads that we find now in our search for SW ads

So when talking to Paul ( Artoo_Detour) we got the idea to make a little tread with ads , so you guys can kick back and look at something not SW .But still cool .
But watch out that you don't fall in love with this stuff and have to go and get i Very Happy

Enjoy and feel free to kick in some ads.

This is a 1981 Playmobil ad from a danish Donald Duck magazine:

As Soren was saying, we were both having a chat in PM about non SW vintage toys and ads and thought we'd get a thread rolling - please contribute any cool ads you have Smile

Here's a 1978 ad from Pif Gadget for Six Million Dollar Man - licensed by Meccano in France:

And another French ad from Pif Gadget, this time 1982, TCR 'Total Control Racing' set:

Cool idea guys. I'll have a check in some mags from here to see what I can find. But for now, heres some French ones I got from Pif.

This one looks like Legos. Paul, am I right on that?

Great ads Chris, I have the Playmo and Tente ones in my blog.

Yep, the Tente is very much like LEGO - it's a Spanish company formed in 1972 and they distributed their sets throughout Europe, USA and Japan.
Nicely collectable esp if you can find them still boxed.

Class additions, Soren, I like that LEGO space set from 1975. Also like the Airfix with Space 1999 and the Corgi Bond doubled with the Playmo ad - double nice Smile
Great LEGO cartoon ad - look out for my one in same style further down page! Never saw the Karate Kid toys either, great ad!

Keeping it LEGO ...

Cartoon advert from Pif 1985

LEGO Technic 1982:

LEGO space 1981

LEGO castle 1981

Those are some killer ads. I was thinking the other day about what mags came with ads on them here and remembered that in the late 70's/ early 80's comics were famous for having either toy or video games ads on the back cover. So I checked a few random ones on the shelf and heres what I found.

Lego challenge ads.

Lone Ranger Western Town mail-away, Popples, and Go bots Nestle contest ad.

Whenever I get a chance to go through the rest of the 1000+ books I got, I'll post up some more.
