| Is there anything Vintage that people are not making Repro now a days??? Don't forget to see the other Wonderful repro stuff this person sells also. Oh and with this auction don't forget that that 10% of the profit goes to God. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250801033170 |

| I saw these last night and just shook my head in disgust. I love the God ploy. God doesn't like scammers and cheats. He only collects vintage and sends repros and their makers to burn in a fiery pit. |

| Noob, you are so right. Maybe I've just been blind to it but I saw that listing and thought "WTF....They are booting playsets now too??? How long has this shit been going on??" And the God ploy, I think I'm going to add that to my signature on the forum. |

| The guy is 3 hours away from me. I should go up there with the ole basball bat and tell him God wants 60% or I beat his ass. Then do it anyway on principle. Repro playsets have been popping up for the last 2-3 years now. Its getting insane. |

| Nice - Funny Rob... I love that the users ID is "cleaningouttheattic" or something like that. I guess he just has repro crap laying around his house and never bought in bulk to rip people off. Chris - I've been wanting to visit Alabama for a while. Only I'm going to bring some heavy muscle |

| I can go ahead and save you the time and money. Theres nothing here worth seeing. No decent concerts come around anymore. Ozzfest never came through. The closest it got was Atlanta. The only thing decent here is Gulf Shores, but not sure about it since the oil spill. Havent been down there in 6-7 years. I even want to get out of here. |

| I was down in Birmingham last year for the Richard Scrushy Car Auction. I liked Alabama! Only thing that struck me odd was people introducing me to their wife and sister and seeing only 1 woman in front of him (Just kidding of course)
As for this stuff, Im going to say put the pitchforks down LOL. The guy clearly says in the title, and body of the ad they are repros. i know the 10% thing might raise a flag but I don't think it's pandering. It's $1.80 per set. I put $20 in the basket on Sunday so if he sells 11 sets per week, he's basically matching that.
The only issue I'd have is if people try to flip them of course. I just sent him a message asking if there is anyway to tell them from the originals. I'll post his reply!

| Is it really that bad out there?? I work for AT&T out here in California and they are moving us and our work to Nashville TN. I was actually starting to look forward to the move. LOL
Now I’m going to get on the soap box.
As for the auction. I just thought (and not this seller in particular) it was a bit over the top that repros have gone from Weapons and capes to Play sets. What will be next? 100% look a like reproduction figures? It is a sad state when you buy from Ebay, toy show or toy shop and you can't just walk up and say "I'll take that loose Cloud City Playset" and know you're getting a authentic item. You now have to take your chances even more when it comes to blind buying on Ebay, or spending extra time studying either the Gunnery or another site for tell tale signs to spot a fake in person because as we all know, not everyone will list an item with Ebay or sell a item locally and disclose it is a reproduction either because they are shady or just because they simply had no idea. Since I don’t really collect the play sets, and had this seller NOT listed it was a reproduction and I would of bought one… I would have had no clue it was a reproduction.
The 10% to God part, seeing that on a auction for someone selling reproduction items was a bit odd and funny at the same time. Maybe just my warped since of humor.

I keep some cars down there, so if I travel back, i'll let you know!!
I did get a response from the seller BTW

Well, in person, up close, there would be very obvious signs that they are not the real thing, but from a few feet away it's pretty hard to tell, so they display nicely.

| Guys I had some back and forth with the seller (Jeff) and found out a few things. Most importantly, the background is a sticker, applied to the cardboard. That alone makes it easy to spot in person. It's also cut by hand so there will be some edging issues.
He was a super nice guy and really didn't think anyone would try to pass them off as vintage since the stickers alone stand out. He told me, after reading the thread, he's going to order a stamp that says "reproduction" or something to mark the backs. He was very friendly, and completely understanding.
So I'd call this a win win all around.

| All joking aside - Good work John. And good to know the seller isn't trying to pass these off as genuine and that his actions of marking them as repros will prevent anyone else from trying to pass them off.
I guess you actually took some positive action where we just made jokes about it. I think I'll try to be as proactive in my response to these kind of things for now on. |
