| Space, the vinyl frontier... (oops, that's Star Trek) Well, I've always been a bit of a vinyl junkie so it was natural for me to start a small run of Star Wars 7 and 12 inch vinyl records. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]image by Chunk These discs are fun and mostly quite cheap to collect, and some of the artwork is just amazing! And I've listened to them all (apart from the sealed ones) with a mixture of exhilaration and sometimes horror to my ears! It's true that the original John Williams soundtracks are awesome classics, while some of the 're-imagined' works are fuggin awful! But that's only a few rare examples. Mostly there are some real gems to be found that cross the borders of late 70s jazz/funk and airy 80s dark synths. Enough rambling, here's my small collection so far. There's a few more on the way but here's the starters... | That is fantastic! As something of a vinyl junkie myself those records bring back memories (turn the page when you hear the chime!). I still have the Charles Gerhardt record on vinyl and CD. For the longest time that was the only way to get a number of cues from The Empire Strikes Back that were not included on the original soundtrack. I need to get another copy of the original Polydor issue of the Star Wars double LP. I had a nice minty copy until one day it fell off the shelf and took a giant chunk out of the cover. Thanks for sharing the pics Dave |

| Awesome Paul. I have the unsealed 7" SW and ESB read along books. Love them. Used to drive my sister crazy with them. Here's an old pic of my collection with them in the backround. | Wat a cool limelight! Recently my wife has become a vinyl junky, so we fixed up our old turntable with a new cartridge and stylus, and got a new receiver and speakers to put it through. This limelight makes me totally wanna pick up some old SW vinyl!
I especially LOVE the Vader picture disc! I saw one on ebay a couple of days ago, but got outbid last minute.
Anyway, REALLY dig your limelight, Artoo! Thanks for taking the time to put it up!

| Paul, what a great vinyl collection, totally enjoyed watching it. The artwork on most of the covers is freaking cool. This one is interesting cause it shows where Luke landed his X-Wing before entering Bespin city, a scene which was not shown in the actual movie. Funny, why did he not just park it on a landing platform in the city itself? Did he already suspect there was a trap set for him by the Empire? And why crash landing it? Was he show down by an agressive Cloud City Twin Pod? [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| Hi Paul!
I hope you are well?
Your vinyl collection is really taking great shape and I love the fact that your enjoying the collection with the Record Player. Like Marco, the artwork for the ESB records caught my eye. Do the records say who produced the artwork? |

| Thanks for taking a look everyone, and for the nice comments Dave - I'm tempted to get the CD version of the Charles Gerhardt too. Lol at the sounds of the 'chime' Paul - that's a nice ROTJ 12" SOSW, and glad you showed the back of the album too, nice photos. I've seen a French version of that knocking around too. Tad - that's great your wife is getting back into the vinyl experience. Hope you manage to get some SW vinyl soon ReboJazz - how cool to have had your own jazz record shop! Would've loved to have walked in there one time and take a look Any Horace Silver? Joe - that'd be good to hear some remixes mate Marco - I think Luke mistook a huge snowdrift for a nice flat landing strip. Or the Wampa was making a big snowball fight Craigy - hi mate, all good thanks, and you? The Boris Midney is credited to "Jeff Wack/Gribbitt!" The Symphonic Suite is credited to "WM Stout" Thanks again everyone ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ My website: The Vintage Toy Advertiser - recognise these toys? | ...forgot to add what i initially wanted to say: maybe it's a good idea to set up a thread containing all sw-related audio items we can find? (vinyl, cassette tapes, 8tracks,...) i'd add mine here but i really don't want to hijack your lime - i could start a lime of my own of course, but what good would it be to have everything in different threads huh.. well, you get my meaning, i'm just rambling ramble on! (which artist? ) |

| Nice idea If you make a new thread I'll add some pics from some new stuff I have coming, and I'll cherry pick a few from here. Chris J has some audio stuff too that I'm pretty sure he'll add. And if you want to PM me your Japanese availables I'd be very interested cheers Ramble on...
