PostSubject: OT- I passed my MENSA exam!    Wed Jul 06, 2011 11:36 am

I meant to post this here and RS at the same time but got pulled out of the house. Sorry for having my TIG family get 2nd posting Sad

On Father's Day, my gift was a few hours to myself to try and pass the MENSA entrance test. It was 2 exams that lasted about 90 minutes. It's an absouletly brutal test that gives you about an average of 15 seconds per question and you can imagine they aren't run of the mill. To be allowed entry , you need to basically rank in the top 2% of the intelligence spectrum.

Well I got a letter in the mail today and I scored in the 99th percentile!! I also put on my application that the position I wanted (not sure why thats there) was "Jedi Knight" so Im waiting for my force power to kick in LOL

Anyway, if there is a group that I can share this with and not worry about any judgement its here. Im euphoric right now. I didn't finish college. I never had that feeling that most had when they held their diploma. This is kind of my moment.

Anyone other members here BTW?

Congrats John. That makes you the smartest person I know. Scary huh? I know very little about MENSA. Maybe now we'll get a lesson in what it is they actually do.

I'll even forgive you for posting here second behind that "other" site.

:drumroll: celebrate drinking2 :cantina: :grr:

Congrats, that is a major achievement, it really is.

John, now with your brains filled with 99% intelligence, I hope there is still some space left for some good old modesty. Very Happy

(I know you can handle a bit of irony, cause you are smart and it comes from a fellow TIG member Very Happy)

I've also heard that once every 30 days, many women join MENSES. Laughing

In all seriousness John, that really is incredible. You should be very proud. Like you, I never finished college, so you give hope to all of us dropouts!!

Like Paul, I'm also curious as to what Mensa does. Our world has a helluva lot of problems to solve, so I hope you guys can get crackin' on 'em. Very Happy

John - That is an incredible accomplishment! Congrats! "Jedi Knight", that's pretty cool. I'm sure those no shortage of SW fans in the group. I read somewhere that the average SW fan typically ranks in the higher IQ levels.

I guess this group isn't typical, lol.

Seriously though - enjoy the table.

Nice work, John celebrate That's some achievement. That's a lot of pressure too with just 15 secs average per question!
Now you can use your extra brain power to help out our troubled world (which I know you already do by your positve messages, man Cool )

Here are a few interesting quotes from Einstein...

Concern for man and his fate must always form the chief interest of all technical endeavors. Never forget this in the midst of your diagrams and equations.

Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is not to stop questioning.

Our task must be to free ourselves by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature and its beauty.

Any man who can drive safely while kissing a pretty girl is simply not giving the kiss the attention it deserves.

Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

The hardest thing to understand in the world is the income tax.

The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and science.

Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.

Congrats John. I had to look it up to see what you were talking about. That is one hell of an accomplishment to be proud of. I wonder why they had Jedi Knight on there?

Thanks for the kind words guys. I havent told many people in the "real" world because I don't know how it'll come across (arrogant, show off-y, etc.) but I knew everyone on the boards would just be happy for me. So thanks for that.

Chris - There is an open line that says "Position Applied For". I assume it was for people that might be trying to join and become a new group like "President of the TIG Chapter of Mensa" or something. The proctor said someone once wrote Master of the Universe. Well I couldnt let the opportunity slip by so I wrote in Jedi Knight.
