PostSubject: Updated Rebel Commando Limelight   Mon Jan 23, 2012 6:06 pm

Well, it appears that I seem to do this once a year, so I wanted to keep up with tradition. Wink

However, this time, I've tried to mix things up a bit. I constructed a lightbox in order to showcase some pieces a little more. That and to reduce the glare and flash from glass and acrylic. Besides, it was just fun to do. Very Happy

I have some more pics to upload later, but I need to get better pics of a few very special pieces. So keep checking back for more goodies!

I also, would be remiss if I didn't thank some people. Without the help and support of these fine people, my collection wouldn't be anything like it is today, you all know who you are. I do need to give mention to some very special people. Broc, Steve, Shawn and Joe. You guys have always been there for me to offer support, guidance and help with anything that I needed. I honestly, cannot thank you enough!

So without further adieu....

First up is the one piece that kicked it all off, my childhood Rebel Commando. He went on many adventures with me when I was a kid and he was the figure that kicked off this entire hobby for me.

Next is some Pre-Production items:

Overstock limbs and Non-Sonic Welded Rebel Commando (I know, not really pre-production, but I didn't know where else to put them) -

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

1) Overstock limbs
2) NSW Rebel Commando

Baggies (again, I know they aren't pre-production Wink ) -

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

1) Kenner Baggie
2) Kenner Employee Store Baggie (Rebel Commando Sticker)
3) Kenner Employee Store Baggie (Rebel Commander Sticker)

35mm Photo Transparency of the cardback image -

ROTJ Proof's -

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

1) ROTJ 65A Proof
2) ROTJ Bubble Test with double sided tape on the back
3) ROTJ 65C Cromalin

Unproduced POTF Proofs -

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

1) POTF Cromalin
2) POTF Proof w/2 square corners

Figure Blueprint (sorry for the glare, this is framed and it was tough to get a photo of it without the glare) -

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Internal Kenner Weapons transparency -

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

This is a really cool item. It's hand drawn with a marker, on a transparency, and it's the outlines for a lot of the weapons from the 65 era Jedi figures. I only took a photo of the Rebel Commando rifle, but it has a Luke Jedi blaster, Ewok weapons, ERG Staff, and a real early Bib Fortuna staff that looks like a shepherd's crook. We think it was used for some sort of internal presentation at Kenner.

Endor Forest Ranger 8x10 Film Slide -

Endor Forest Ranger Marked Cromalin -

Now on to the display pics!

Here's the whole display -

Great focus collection and display, Chris!!! Very Happy

I also like it that you gave your childhood Rebel Commando as much ''screentime' as the high end items.

Chris, congrats on a superb character focus. I love seeing focus collections. The lightbox photos really add a nice touch too. The figure blueprints and weapons transparancy really compliment the collection. Great work mate Cool

Your limelights might be like Santa Claus, appearring once a year, but when they do, they are fantastic. The display is great. Just enough items in it to be eye catching and not overcrowded. The proofs and croms are awesome.

I agree with what Marco said. It's GREAT you showcased the one item that started this all. Beautiful display!!!! I especially like the drawings or design work by a Kenner employee. That is VERY cool. Thanks for posting. It reminds me of Bill McBride's concentration on his DT's : )

Chris - Man it just looks super. Forgetting some great pickups, the whole setup is amazing in and of itself.

Do you have a list of everything vintage RC? Like a checklist? I'm curious what's left out there!

Thanks everyone for the wonderful comments and compliments! It's been a fun run to put together! Almost as fun as JarJar! Wink

As for a list of what else is out there, there's quite a bit actually. There's numerous pre-production items and some fun production left. What's mainly out there for production is:

MOC:

PBP - Red Offer
PBP - Black Offer
PBP - Offerless (might be out there, but I haven't confirmed it yet.)

Tri-Logo - 70C (possibly)
Tri-Logo - Meccano (I've only seen two, maybe three)
Tri-Logo - Rounded bubble

Kenner - 79A (Good lord this has to be out there somewhere!) <--Grail Item! Very Happy
Kenner - 65A w/Coin Offer

I'm not sure I want to divulge too much pre-production info. But trust me, there's actually quite a bit. Wink
