That's some SERIOUS Star Wars collecting history you got going on there Mark! I love seeing the old names and addresses of the kids these were going to. Beautiful job and quite amazing collection you have put together.

Thanks guys.

Marco, you are most welcome. In fact, I extend my invitation to anyone who comes by my part of the world. Beer is on me. Smile

Steve, I agree. I was partial to having sets that had an address label on them rather than the blank white boxes. I liked the idea that these items were owned at some point in time by a kid who for some strange reason decided not to open them up.

Am trying to compile some photos of my entire collection slowly - when time permits. Once this is done, I will throw in a new limelight of my existing collection. Honestly, I did not think that I had accumulated quite this much ... Embarassed

Cheers,

Mark

Nice collection, Mark. I'll keep you in mind if I ever decide to part with the one I have (the EBC kit with receipt, ad, and invoice). Wink

Its likes owning the Mona Lisa and all the other Leonardo paintings.

Now all i have to do is give up my left kidney, my right eye, mortgage my house for a 3rd time, cash in my pension plan, file in my income tax and i am all set to get one.

Mark what a great set!! It's impressive to see them all together like that!

I have a couple of questions, though. Why so many different EB certificates? Is there a difference between them, or do you just like collecting them? Since, I don't have any, I really know nothing about them.

Also, one of your graded EB kits, say "transitional." What does that mean? Is it the different baggies? I have never seen that before.

Again, just an amazing limelight!!

I got my hands on the opened EB certificates when I started out with this run - hoping to put together an opened set which I could display with the contents. In the course of doing this, duplicates were offered to me as part of other items so I ended up with a few pieces. Thereafter, with some luck I actually managed to secure a full complete opened set (save for the photocopied certificate piece - which I am actually still looking for an original unused piece). In short, the only difference between the opened certificates are their condition.

As for the MISP, I got the AFA graded one first at a fair price. Thereafter, there as a lot of 4 MISP that came onto the market (which were apparently found in the attic of the seller) where I managed to secure 2 pieces and they turned out to be in fantastic condition. I should have bit the bullet to acquire all 4 when I had the chance but at the time there was some skepticism as to whether they were really in that kind of condition after so long ... sigh - I regret hesitating now LOL.

I believe that the last wave of AFA90 EB Certificates came from this attic find - by the 2 purchasers of the other 2 pieces. I dont think that I will send my 2 pieces in for grading for now - perhaps only when I decide to let them go (if ever LOL)

The EB figure sets had 3 variations. The first version was the one with the DT Luke and the small SW catalog. The second version has the DT Luke but in a different SW baggie with the large SW catalog. This second version is known as the transition set. The 3rd version is the non DT Luke version. Those are the differences between the 3 sets. As far as I know, the transition set is the hardest one to find in this kind of condition. The piece that I have originated from Chris Price and then to Grant and thereafter to a collector called Lee (I think), whom I purchased it from.

Here is the resource guide on these that I referred to - http://powerofthetoys.com/mailer-guide/

Cheers,

Mark

Yes, hopefully I do get some time to provide pics of the full collection as it currently stands before the year end. Angry SW
I have been trying without too much success LOL

Just been too busy with wedding dinner preps and other stuff with the house and the wifey to really spend time taking the pics.
