won't this instigate an emphasis on quantity rather than quality posts?

i'd suggest using a "vote rating per post" (for lack of a better name for this)
i've seen it on conceptart.org, where readers can press a button next to a post, stating they "like" the post.
this can be for valuable information given, or an insughtful reply, or just because it's so funny i just spilled milk through my nose laughing.

dunno what type of systems are supported by this forum though..
in any event, it's nice to see you guys trying hard - and succeeding! - to constantly improve this haven to a bunch of overaged boys

Aome good points there is actual a post rating system call reputation that can be set up.

I'm in the process of changing the kudos values so for example someone who starts a new topic in say vintage start earns 15 points were you earn 3 points for replying etc that type of thing. Someone who starts a thread that reaches 2 pages gets more points etc.



Ill post details of the set up later tonight but ultimately they goal of it is to refelct meaning contirbutions rather than one line answers etc. Also it will give more points to replies in the limlight section as that is offering support to your bros etc.

I'm on the pda so I'm probably not explainijng things well lol.
