Hey Craig - like you told you via pm a while back this is the best research I've ever seen! It is so cool to see the relation between card markings (HN etc) and coo of the figures.

I wonder if you can go ahead with the correct accessories for the different coos.

E. g. I have a rough moulded green lightsaber and wonder with what coo this one goes.

Or if there is a slight colour difference of the light green "Hong Kong" Luke lightsaber and the light green no coo Luke ls (I think there is a difference).

As for the different moulded guns - I now found a third colour of the V2 gun: gray, dark gray, beige. I think the gray and dark gray versions go with the Taiwan figure. The beige version I got with a no coo Luke.

Thank you all for you support... I will eventually complete all the sections so bare with me.

Can I ask anyone who spots any typos or mistakes to let me know as it important to keep the research as best it can be.

I spent Sunday photo shoting alot more stuff and these will go up soon.

Uli:

Don't worry man as soon as I get my lighting tent and tripod I can finish off taking close ups of missing items like the weopons, looose figures, bubble styles, etc . I will need some technical advice on camra set up and that Macro setting that everyone talks about so don't be shy in giving technical advice to me.

My plan is to provide everyone with a matrix of weopons vs cardback for each factory. This will be 100% based on weopons still sealed inside the card and not opinion or speculation so all details should be 100% accurate.

Again thanks to all for the support and a speciall thanks to fellow buddies who have given me assistence on the way.

Hey guys!

Just a quick bump to let anyone who's interested know:

I have completed the sections for "Toys" and "Baggies & Multipacks". I have now added all the items currently in my collection that belong to these two catagories. I have just one more section to build from scratch and that's it, just regular updates from there. Which hopefully won’t be too bad as the misses hasn’t seen much of me whilst I have been building this post!

NOTE:

All the new stuff will be in the Second post at the start of this thread. I had to spread my work over two posts as I maxed out Jay's Limit for content on any one post. Sorry Jay! Embarassed
I still have months’ worth of Luke Jedi MOC to put-up in the carded section so bare with me as I will be updating the first post on the Carded Items.

POST IS NOW IMAGE HEAVY HERE’S SOME VIEWING TIPS:

Because the post is so intense I have added a working main menu in the first post to jump to sections you’re interested in. I recommend you load it completely first. This may take a moment (or 50,000) depending on your connection speed. Once it fully loaded, you can then use the main menu at the start of the first post to jump to the sections you are interested in (even if they are in the Second post).

Note too: if you click the small thumbnail at the end of each section it will take you back to the top where the main menu is. The "Home" thumbnail looks like this:

“Back” also works on my machine without reloading the whole page so it might work for you too!

If you need to view full size any of the photo thumbnails, then right-click and select “Open in New Window”. You therefore shouldn’t have to refresh the page so viewing won’t be too bad after the first load-up.

All the best!

Craigy

This question is attentioned to Craig and Shawn, our resident Vintage Luke Jedi character focus experts. I have always wondered since July 1983 whether this was actual offtake scene from RETURN OF THE JEDI or a purposely posed publicity photo. scratch thinking I have studied the frame by frame shots and the best results only showed Luke's hand holding the palace blaster from the right side view, never from the full frontal shot such as this.

Please do share what you know about the actual origins and story behind this picture. Smile

Interesting!!! Good question. I've tried to find the same screen shot since you've posted this. No luck!

Dallas, I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one here asking about this iconic picture of Mark Hamill in this pose that has appeared on the Vintage Kenner and Tri-Logo action figures, Posters, Jigsaw Puzzles and Magazines. IF there is any actual deleted offtake scene from Lucasfilm's cutting room floor, it will be a great discovery! Smile

I don't have any solid info as to the origin of the picture, but my guess is it could be from an alternate take of the scene or even taken by an on set photographer.

Shawn (and Craig), how about this other iconic picture of Luke Jedi brandishing his Lightsaber on Jabba's Sail Barge :

Could this be an alternate offtake shot or most probably a publicity movie still picture? I first saw this picture in the May 23, 1983 issue of TIMES magazine.

Hi Craig your collection rocks Very Happy

Reading about the Luke picture . Got me thinking . I use to have a small cut out artikel from a Danish youth magazine from the 1980's. There was something about a pirate /bootleg copy of one of the films. I think it was ROTJ.

They speculated about and got to the conclusion that if it exsist , it might be a copy with out the "digital" special effects on it .
Like a pre theater copy or something like that.

This was in the VHS / Beta Max days . My memories about it are veg , but i sold the cut out to Hansole / Michael in a lot.
He might still have it ? I wil PM him about it

Any one else ever heard about a pirate copy of the film ?

Hello again Peter,

I am glad you enjoyed the limelight. It is not finished yet (I haven't listed all my collection yet) but hope to add to it when I get a chance.

The imfamous shot yous highlighted came from the set photographers that were on scene to take stills. The stills were used as publicity shots and distrubuted by LFL to the media for film publicity and toy companies like Kenner for Jedi. Shawn was lucky to get a Kenner reference photo (shown in his collection) I have managed to pick-up a few Reference photos from the media.

I believe the still photographer on the set of Jedi was called Albert Clarke.

Hope that helps

Craigy

EDIT(2) Another still photographer on the set of Jedi was Ralph Nelson Jr.

EDIT The reference photos were piled on my desk but heres a shot of them:
