At first glance they indeed look 'off'. Specially the normally straight edges on both weapons seem a bit crude. You have some real ones to put next to them ?

Thew crossbow with the mold circle to the edge of the handle is known! Could be it isnt in the archive but should be real!

I cannt check my own. You have to wait a minimum of 2 weeks before I get my collection out of storage Laughing

This crossbow came with a Ledy Chewie about three years ago. The seller told me this was a Ledy bowcaster cause it had moulds circles.

Made sense to me at that moment, I know better now. Very Happy

Still a genuine mould IMO (look and feel), which you don't see too often.

I sent these to james thinking they where repo so that he could get them up on the gunnery, the Chewy bow looked and felt original but it doesn't have the 2 dots/circles that all the others have (under the right hand side of the scope)

The ewok bow is another one I thought was original but it is slightly different on the inside of the handle compared to all the others I've had here.

FYI, what you're calling "mold circles" should be called "ejector pin marks" which are common in injection molded parts. What you're seeing is the outline and surface of the tip of the cylindrical pin inside the mold that pushes the part out of the mold at the end of the molding cycle.

If you're going to analyze molding differences and characteristics you might as well start using the correct terminology. Smile

There's lots of great info and images about injection molding online, but here's a consolidated overview.

Cheers!

Ok here we can see the small bumps under the scope that Scott pointed out. ( there are 3 on each side- the one at the back is a bit hard to see ) & what appears to be a sprue break point at the front of the trigger guard
The bowcaster version without these bumps seems to have this ejector pin mark ( E.P.M geek )
So that's another original weapon we can add to the main site.
Kudos to Scott for getting this to me, we should have new (better) pictures loaded in a week.

Just checked AJ and I also have this bowcaster with mold circle (EPM marks) on the corner of the bowcaster handle. Floats in water, looks good against a back light and matches yours exactly... I questioned this from the time it arrived. But interestingly enough it came from a beautiful lot with no repos, bought from an estate sale. : )

Just to clarify the circle at the very back of the bowcaster is the ejector pin mark (which can be clearly seen in Marco's picture). When you can put up a picture of yours please.

This is another one I sent to james, I brought it of ebay advitised as "looks to be original" I took a chance and brought 10, I got 7 known repos and 3 of these I think. They are good as you can see but look at the back of the blaster and it looks like its been chopped with a pair of pliers, also has plastic flashing in that picture.

Is it a solid black colour throughout?

Agree, the cut-away at the end of the blaster above the handle looks suspect.

If I remember right its a blue/black colour and the same thing can be seen on the end at the barrel when in hand. What do you think on colour James?

I bought one example of every weapon from the 3storms warehouse find. I got superdan to label all the colours for me but I still struggle to see the differences.
I would refer to this 'new' repro as darkblue/black.

That sounds good to me I thought there was a bit of blue to it. I think this now show's that these repo makers are using floating plastics that are very close to original colours and its only a matter of time before there is detailed floating repo's of every accessory that's worth a pound or two. Luckily for community you guys are doing such a great job on updating the gunnery and all the new detailed pictures and descriptions are great, the best source of reference out there and once complete with all the original variants and colours there will be nowhere else for these repo guys to go.

I might change my mind and say it's black tongue

[img][/img]
so here are all my V1s

now comparing the 'black repro' to a blue one I had marked as fake

Apart from the blue one are they all the same colour in your first pic or are the ones on the right solid black, what makes you think that blue one is repo?

I really am struggling with this whole blue/black vs black thing. To me they are all black. (but I don't have that many Han Trenchs so ???? ) The bottom left blue one I had marked as repro as that's what it was sold to me as. But then it's the same as my other blue one in the first pick so hence I'm second guessing myself scratch

They'll be the dark blue/black ones I think as there the most common one's(at least here) and don't think there is a black V1? When you say you can't see a difference in the blue ones is that colour as well, your "repo" one looks ok to me.

Ackbar staff's have been discussed before ( Scott can you add the link please)
Anyway round 2:

The bottom one has 'interesting' extra flashing at the ejector pin marks. To me it's OK

Here's another odd one- it's oval not round ( just a factory flaw???)

I've got examples of both the round & oval Ackbar Staff shown above & I've always taken the oval one to be a genuine variant.
