Watch it again. She is on-screen talking, lips moving. No cutaway, Lucaswipe or anything. She even says "Fire!" before then cutting to the ion cannon firing. Does it mean it is not dubbed? Not at all; it sure is possible. It is just generally accepted that she is one of the few speaking roles in the OT.

Even I can admit when I'm wrong and I concede that she definitely had a speaking role... so it was 5 Females, not 4... I changed the answer to reflect it! Thank you!

In Dec 1998, I sat my Mechanical Engineering - Dynamics I exam… I opened the paper and saw 3 questions that were nigh on identical to the “sample” questions I had just done that morning. There were over 50 sample questions to practice on and I happened to pick 3 of the ones that later turned up in the exam. Not surprisingly, I scored a very high mark for that module which in turned boosted my average and helped me get a free scholarship to study in Ontario, Canada for the next year. Luck eh!

Same Luck applies here… many Yavin moons ago; there was a feature either in StarWars.com or in the magazine: Insider, whereby they found the man who famously said the lines “That’s impossible, even for a computer” in the Death Star briefing. By all accounts, that man was supposed to be Wedge, but Lucasfilm later changed to Dennis Lawson for the X-Wing scenes because they weren’t happy with the performance. As you know… David Lawson went on to be the face of Wedge, for the trilogy.

As I understand though, all the X-wing pilots that were played by British actors had their voices dubbed over by American voices – this includes Wedge! David Ankrum voiced over the lines for (both Wedges).

Back to the answer the though… the “fake Wedge” was played by a young man by the name of Colin Higgins. He attended a few conventions… I need to dig out my Autographs… as I had a few autographs from rebel pilots who were at Celebration Europe.

As we are nearing closer and closer to the 100th question, I want to take this time to thank you all for making this the most fun trivia game I've hosted.  Really... you guys have been awesome!  I've been keeping score and will post the results after the 100th question... just to see how good you guys really are!  You all know the rules by now... so I won't dwell on them any longer.  Here's this week's question...

Question 98:

How did they get away with that without being sued, or did John Wayne and his estate give blessings?
I straightaway thought of Greedo but I think he had too many lines to be borrowing JW's voice. Then I thought of Walrus Man or the Spy with the long nose can't think of his name. I remember the spy's voice was quite static/electronic sounding so I'll say the spy.

I thought of Greedo because of the stick them up scene with Han. But Paul I think your right... too many lines... hmm it’s not the cantina bar walrus man is it!

Thinking about watching the credits to see if John Wayne is credited! Lol

With a lot of things, if it is modified enough from its original form, it falls outside of traditional copyright law.

I am glad the side discussion is enjoyed! I was a wee bit worried I was getting things off track. I am glad it is not just a "let's stick to Q & A, please" thread! :-)

I'll just throw a guess into the mix, as well: Walrus Man, err, Ponda Baba.

Good Monday morning all you sleepy rebels out there... it's Monday and we all know what that means... it's time for a new trivia question of the week!  This week's question brings us one step closer to the big three digits and since you've all been playing along this long I think it's safe to say you all know the rules by now.  If not, I'm sure someone will point them out to you!  So, let's get on with it shall we?

Question 99:
What’s the canonical designation (letters/numbers) and newly non-canonical nickname of the droid voiced by Paul Reubens in 2014?

Answer:

Good Monday morning all you happy rebels out there!  This is a very special question this week, because it is the 100th question I've asked in this trivia challenge!  That's right!  For the past 100 weeks (that's almost 2 years) I've been bring a new and interesting question to you all every Monday!  So to mark this aspicious occasion, I'd like to take the time to say THANK YOU ALL for making this a wonderful experience!  I remember when I first came here by invitation from Bryan, and looking around and seeing the Question of the week and wondering to myself, "Ummmm.... ok" and wondering why they kinda stopped.  So I asked a couple of questions and of course talked to Matt about it, and got the blessing and almost 2 years later here we are, testing our knowledge of our fandom every week and having fun doing so!  So THANK YOU ALL!  So... let's get on with this week's brain buster!  This is actually true and very difficult to find!  Let's get to it shall we?

Question 100:
Which actor in the original trilogy was married to King Kong, literally?

Answer:

First Correct Answer: NO ONE
