PostSubject: Blaster identification help.   Wed Jan 06, 2016 4:14 pm

Hello All,

New here so hope I've posted the pics correctly. I'm trying to identify this blaster that came with a recent Fett purchase. It is dark blue in colour and passes both drop and float test. It appears genuine to me, its not painted and has some flexibility so isn't brittle plastic. Looking at your reference material I think its either a LL V6 or a V7? When held to the light none passes through. the front and rear appear to be worn down and the hand grip is poorly pressed. What do you guys think?

I'm looking to pair this with a HK Fett, would this be original to this figure? I'm guessing if its a LL blaster then not.

Cheers in advance, James

This would either be an error blaster or is a fake all together is what my guess is.  I have never seen one with "wear" to these red areas to the degree that it made them perfectly rounded off without having been melted.  Since it passes the float and drop it may be an error, in which case it was removed from the machine while the plastic was still hot and that could have casued all of these round areas on it.

I am leaning more towards an error blaster, I haven't seen a reproduction that was like this and if this was poured with these rounded areas we should see air bubbles and I don't see any. Lets see what others have to say.

I would call this blaster a "short shot", this is when not enough plastic is injected into the mould cavity. Underneath the ammo clip is the remains of a snapped off sprue, see example below...

If you notice all the rounded off areas are the furthest points away from where the liquid plastic was forced under pressure into the mould cavity, and as there wasn't enough it didn't reach some edges to form the correct shape.

Thanks for getting back to me. I agree, it looks like a miscast blaster. Any opinions on what type it is and if it would be original to a HK Fett?

Cheers, James

There are two main HK Fetts ( big & small copyright)

By the looks of the bar under the side clip it is a V7 mould ( same as V3 with the bar 'added' ) Imperial blaster section will get an update but this blaster is not a euro exclusive as seen by this baggie:
