Blog Update #10 (20/11/2018)

2018 Star Wars DC Area Collecting Club - Charity Pin…

A sincere little thank you to Andy Nicol (@Nico).

Andy picked up a DC Area Collecting Club Charity Pin - the proceeds of which benefit the Tradegy Assistance Program for Survivors. For this 2018 pin the character featured is Luke Jedi.

Andy received two of these and being the super chap that he is, sent his second to me without asking for anything in return. One thing that's help this hobby stay great is the kindness of others!

This pin has a green Washington DC obelisk as the sabre blade and is dedicated to the memory of super Luke Jedi focus collector: Bob Marinazzi, who sadly passed away earlier this year. Bob did a tremendous amout of Charity work and was a key member of the DC Collecting Club. It quite fitting that they have chosen to dedicate the pin to his memory.

Coo markings are just a marking placed in the mold to show copyright ownership. Your marking is shown on #10 which is a palitoy non electronic version. This doesn't mean that that same mold wasn't used earlier by kenner for say version 6 which matches the description of yours. In fact since palitoy did not actually produce toys but just carded/boxed them it is almost guaranteed that the mold existed prior to palitoy ordering version for them. Ships haven't been researched in as much detail as figures because most collect figures. I don't doubt your ship is a #6 in that link and just came from a mold that had that coo marking. Also if the year is what is throwing you the copyright date is generally the date when someone filed the copyright and not when it was made hence you can find r2d2 carded return of the jedi figures with the original date on them as the mold was still used with the original copyright date and the figure did not undergo changes to the body. There maybe (likely are) other coo markings that aren't pictured at all also. This doesn't mean they don't exist, just the guide doesn't have a picture of it and coo marking for ships hasnt been as much of a collector's chase in variants like it is with figures.

Bryan,

Great link man!

So it looks to me like it is #10 on the list, which is a Palitoy version. There is a photo of the stamp on the bottom of the vehicle, and it is an exact match.

#23 is also a match as far the stamp goes too, I had no idea there were so many versions, thanks for posting the link!

Trauricio,

It is a very nice ship, congrats man & enjoy! Very Happy Very Happy

STORMTROOPER

COO guide for Stormtrooper
Topics tagged under 10 on The Imperial Gunnery Forum Stormt13

NOTE: COO #9A/9B is shared by the Lili Ledy and PBP Stromtrooper.

COO #9A and COO #9B

The Ledy Stormtrooper came with two slightly different COOs. They differ only in the spacing between ‘©’ and ‘G.M.F.G.I. 1977.’:
-COO #9A: Almost no space between ‘©’ and ‘G.M.F.G.I. 1977.’
-COO #9B: Bigger space between ‘©’ and ‘G.M.F.G.I. 1977.’

These small COO differences do not indicate any differences in paint schemes.

REMARK: In the pics below a comparison is made between a Lili Ledy and PBP Stormtrooper. A Trilogo Stormtrooper is also included for reference. All three versions have a hard torso, which is cast in much more detailed plastic.

DIFFERENCES:

Compared to his PBP counterpart, the Ledy Stormtrooper has:
- A thicker black helmet band
- A wider black mouth piece
- Bright instead of creamy white head, torso and limbs
- Limbs made from soft instead of hard (more detailed) plastic
- Sometimes a filled peghole in the right foot (see the pics further below)

Remark: The PBP Stormtrooper in the picture totally lacks the black paint on the helmet 'ear' pieces. Probably a factory error.

Compared to his Trilogo counterpart, the Ledy Stormtrooper has:
- Another COO: COO #9A/#9B instead of COO #10/#11
- A thicker black helmet band
- A wider black mouth piece

Note that all Ledy Stormtroopers have a filled peghole in the right foot.
