| Neeed a quick answer to this question?
The market has been flooded the last few years with repro snowtrooper capes. Does anyone know if they were around in 1996? |

| Just want to bump this up and get more opinions.. Here are the capes in question.. They were purchased in 1996. Both are identical. Both from Hong Kong snowtroopers. No zippy sound and thicker than normal. Not all vintage capes have the zippy sound and i believe some may be thicker.. I am going to try and speak to scards(Mike) later . More opinions please....vintage or repro? |

| The repro snowtrooper capes were definitely around in 96 - I picked up a couple then to see what they were like. They are easily distinguishable from the originals - much thicker and stiffer than the real thing. My guess would be if you have capes bought around 15 years ago and you are having trouble telling if they are fake, then they are probably the real thing. The fuckers are getting better now so its getting harder to tell with any new repros...

| I also have a thick one....I always had me doubts on this....but I go for genuine with mine! First I thought it is 2 capes in one!
(There was a pic from a Leia cape I still have in mind....someone bought and there where two capes you could take appart! Very crazy story!)
Background: Some Plastic foil you can buy is double-ply. This is why they have one smooth and one side with pattern! I think Kenner could have used a similar material! After cutting the capes were splitted!
Anyway: Has nothing to do with this one...because I couldnt split mine! Ill check for pattern!

| me again:
I remebered a similar cape and found one:
There is some Vader capes: thick, no zipping textures! I would say its the sme material! Its the vader cape with the "stair" on one side!
I think Javi once posted a MOC in the vader thread!
IMO this is the same material and so I definatly go for legit!
