Ya i tried.

I know no one's perfect but geez,i seem to be taking it pretty hard on every end.I wish Stephen can at least meet me halfway on the extra fee's.

I wanted to just have it authenticated and i wanted to give them a try. This is my first time and it's not looking good for a second time. This realy does blow hard.

Dan.

It sucks Dan but i do thing you'll have to suck up these charges tbh i would pay the custom charges and just get them to send it back so you can send to the AFA instead bud.

One thing i'd like to ask in this thread (maybe you can help Del) is Dan mentioned the word authentication which as we know is hugely different to grading. The AFA has Tom Derby and CIB for these purposes and i know that Tom cross references with major dealers and collectors when required.

What provision / qualification does the UKG have to authenticate items?

Cheers Jay

Im not sure who it is but i know that they have a lili ledy collector who they can get to check over anything they are unsure about.

I have helped steve out in the past with baggies they were unsure of, but in 12 months i have probably only helped them about 2 or 3 times lol.

I think they have a few collectors that specialise in certain areas that they can go to if they need help, which imo is a good idea.

Personally i would of used AFA for something like a ledy jawa, Tom Derby's rep is 2nd to none and any coa from him is going to be a lot more credible than UKG's.

I've not sent anything in to UKG for a long time, nor have i spoken to steve. I have more important things to spend money on right now but when i do i may opt for AFA as like jay said i have had a fair few peices come back with spelling errors.
I just like the idea of a uk grading company, and steve is a nice guy so i may give them one more go.

Dan if UKG do grade your jawa get steve to send you a pic of the label, i'd hate for you to get it back with a spelling error Evil or Very Mad

Thanks Del some good points bud i agree i like the idea of someone trying to do a UK Grading service but there has been too many issues, poor cases, spelling errors, items graded with REPRO's, the crazy rarity system that makes zero sense to season collectors who know what is and isnt rare.

I saw one vintage piece that had a UKG COA and the image used on it was from Revenge of the Sith which in my opnion almost invalidated the authentication in some ways i mean why would you use an image from the prequels on a COA of a Vintage Item??

The spelling mistakes on the items are so frequent its almost been a long running joke in some quarters i have never understood why it happens so much as lord knows im a poor speller at times but it only takes a few seconds to bring up the correct spellings on google there must have had tons of complaints and recases because of it so im confused as to why its not been addressed?

Like i said i do whish them luck i just hope they can take on board feedback and use it to imporve the services they offer Smile

Dan, there will be absolutley NO custom fee's for sending it back to you.
Not sure why he is saying that, maybe its crossed wires, does he know your in the usa? cus i think canada are like the uk with customs fee's so maybe he's confused.
Steve is normally very easy going and helpful so im sure it just a missunderstanding.

UKG can just send it back via registered mail, something like Airsure or there may be a better service to use.
I have never had anything go missing using Airsure myself, and it is fairly cheap (actual postage plus £4.50 for airsure), so for something small like a jawa i'd say it would be about £7-9 tops.

I just wrote him back,I let him know i'm displeased with being left in the dark about custom fees in and out.Not sure why it was never mentioned in our conversation????I usually ask a lot of question's and cross all my t's and dot all my i's before i make any financial decision.

I did the best i could do on my part.If i had known this prior to shipping i would of not shipped anything to UKG.Live and learn.I know i've paid my due's triple.

I guess i will wait for his reply and tell him to have it shipped back??I want to know how much eveyone want's to do this i'm sure there will be a fee.Free i've never been givin anything free alway's a fee.I'm already negative $34 dollar's US just shipping it to him.If i never see it again i have postal insurance for $300.6 month's later i'm sure to get a refund from my postal company. :nailbiting: :nailbiting: :nailbiting: :nailbiting: :nailbiting: :nailbiting: :nailbiting: :nailbiting: :nailbiting: :nailbiting: :nailbiting:

It was a realy nice Ledy jawa too, just as nice as my afa 90 jawa.

Oh well. poo poo poo poo poo poo poo poo
