| Besides collecting vintage Star Wars figures, Boba Fett items, and Star Wars Autographs, my other passion is collecting sports memorabilia... especially autographs.
I thought I would start a thread so I can showcase and share my sports autograph collection with the TIG community.
I know many of you are sports fans, while other are not, but I still hope you enjoy looking at my items!!!
This thread is a work in progress....

| Well Im a Jennie Finch fan now  . Great stuff dude , I'm a sports memoribilia guy as well (not lately) but I do like it. I'm too lazy to go to the basement right now and take some pics. However here is what I have in my office (pictures taken without leaving chair) Boxing Glove signed by Oscar De La Hoya  Game Used Bat Signed by Don Mattingly (NY Yankees 1st Baseman)  27X40 Framed Muhammad Ali "Phantom Punch" over Sunny Liston Autographed by Ali  Set of 4 Baseballs signed by the last four triple crown winners (Mickey Mantle / Ted Williams / Carl Yaztremski / Frank Robinson)

| Bob Gibson Signed JerseyI know! I know! I am committing a "Cardinal Sin" by being a Cubs fan and having a piece of Cardinals memorabilia!!!
But I don't care!!! I am a pitcher... and there are several pitchers that I grew up idolizing!!! One of them being St. Louis Cardinals Hall of Fame pitcher, Bob Gibson. Even though I was to young to watch him play, I read books about him and saw plenty of vintage highlight films.
His list of accomplishments are too long to list!!!
This guy was one of the most intimidating and dominate pitchers ever!!! In 1969 Major League baseball lowered the height of the pitchers mound to make hitting easier for the batters because Bob Gibson had a season Earned Run Average of 1.12 the year before.
Hall of Famer, Hank Aaron had this to say about facing Gibson: "'Don't dig in against Bob Gibson, he'll knock you down. He'd knock down his own grandmother if she dared to challenge him. Don't stare at him, don't smile at him, don't talk to him. He doesn't like it. If you happen to hit a home run, don't run too slow, don't run too fast. If you happen to want to celebrate, get in the tunnel first. And if he hits you, don't charge the mound, because he's a Gold Glove boxer.' I'm like, 'Damn, what about my 17-game hitting streak?' That was the night it ended."  |
