| This post is to find out how you guys store youre figs? im not talking about displaying youre collection,i got my figs displayed in a glass cabinet. Really talking about variation figs rearding COO's and stuff. Ex. i dont feel the need to display 10 stormtroopers but dont want to stick them in a baggy and boxed them up. I only have the need to display obvious variations like difference in color but dont want to pile up the rest of my collection either.
Any thoughts on this would be cool and pics even better
Thanks |

| Well don't just put them in those zip lock bags as it looks like oil extracts from the paint or something, also you could loose paint by putting them in a bag. I would say use those wrapping paper they use to pack glasses etc.. and put them in there, make sure they can breath though. Cheers, Dennis. |

| Definitely not Zip locks , Dennis is right, they can do some real damage to figures.
I would simply say box them up wrapped in either bubble wrap(but not completely closed let them sit on layers of it not individually wrapped, or tissue paper perhaps.
Just stay away from the bags of death! |

| I built "steps" for some drawers I already had (old IKEA): The only problem is that I'm running out of drawers all the time... Uli |

| Wow that's cool but I don't have drawers in my ikea cabinets and don't think they exist for the ones I have. Need to check that out. |

| For short term Geordie they are ok, I had mine stored like that for about a year and only 2-3 figures had some damage, long term definitely not, the plastic of the bag and the paint/plastic of the figure doesn't react well, combine that with some heat changes and its a bit like a microwave, they get all sticky and tacky Don't do science so I can't explain it better |

| i packed up my entire collection for moving and they were in baggs for about 2 months, nothing was wrong with them. didnt know that longterm storage in a zipbag causes damage due to the oil used to manufacture them.
any other ideas on storing fig like the drawers? |

| An alternative to ziploc baggies are these acid free baggies I bought a month ago. My figures are now all in them. They look great too.
Archival Methods chrystal clear bags
Shipping costs are a bit hefty though, but worth it for me. |

Ok thx Emiel! So that will be about $5 to get each figure in one of those polypropylene bags. I am not a chemist, but will acid free polyester also do the job? Found these polyester storage pockets for long term conservation of papers, photographs. Just took a quick glance and they seem to be much cheaper. Anyone has experience with these? |

Shipping costs are a bit hefty though, but worth it for me. these also have felxibilizers in it! I would go away from a plastic cases and bags.....I dont think afa cases or starcases or any bag in this world is good for storing figures (long term)!!! Best method....as nearly always is: acidfree cardbord boxes....where the boxes do no harm to the figures (plastic, paint, card, bubble, etc.) and the materials can "breathe"! Wolff |

haha....good question   edit: If its for storage I would wrap every figure with weapon into soft tissue (is this the correct word?...its expensive, very thin and acidfree paper for packaging)! With the correct "bend techniques" nothing can get lost! |

| Interesting thread this...
I got all my loose figs out of zip lock baggies a while back and now keep them all in clamshell cases which i purchased all used/second hand assuming that the gases in the plastic wouldn't be so prevalent/pungent as brand new bought ones?
That is my question....do brand new clamshell cases or zip lock baggies ommit more gas/damage than used/second hand ones or is there a steady level of gas coming out of these plastics constantly?
Over to you Dr Wolff... |
