PostSubject: Hair Dryer   Hair Dryer I_icon_minitimeWed Jun 08, 2011 12:54 pm

I was looking at some auctions the other day on Ebay and a seller was selling a MOC figure "with frosting on the legs but this can easily be removed with a hair dryer"

I have never heard of this method or if this hair dryer therory is even possible. If the hair dryer trick is possible can someone either explain the process or point me in the direction to learn this process. unsure
Thanks

no idea if the hairdryer method works or not (worth a try though!)

but for a minute there i was thinking/hoping you found a vintage SW hairdryer! THAT would've been the find of the century! (and it would work so well next to the "what can you get a Wookiee for xmas, when he already owns a comb" vinyl single) Smile

I dont know about using a hair dryer but frosting on figures can be heated off. Usually leaving it in the direct sunlight does it or even a heat lamp. Its mold on the figure.

Here's a thread on it, click on Georgoulias' post links

There was a thread on RS not long ago about using a hair dryer on low setting that should work. I'm looking for the thread now. As soon as I find it, I'll post it up. But with RS's search funtion, it might take me 3 years to find it. lol!

Thanks Darth, I looked the threads you posted. I think I'll try the hair dryer 1st on LOW. If that don't work, I'll try the 5 minute sun exposure, and then last but not least the heat lamp. I have a frosted figure I will try it with and take pics on the progress.

Same as wouter - I also thought you'd found a vintage Star Wars hairdryer for a moment lol! Would've gone quite nice with the Max Rebo comb and keeper!

Talking of using electrical items with moc - Joe O... what was that idea about the vaccum cleaner/hoover for clearing trilogo dents! Smile

Then there's the blender with Jar Jar Binks, but that's a whole other story Twisted Evil

Chris J, 3 years is optimistic Smile

No, realistic. Have you ever used the search on RS and found what your looking for quick? I'm still trying to find a thread on using hair dryers. I gave up looking for a thread after 3 hours on a certain topic before.

The RS search sucks Bantha ass. I get pissed when a noob gets on there and asks a question, and gets the response "Use the search function." Just tell the poor guy what he wants to know. I've seen myself search for a thread that isn't all that old and I even know the exact title and it won't come up.

Anyway, I too thought that a vintage hair dryer had been found. I would think using a hair dryer would be bad for the glue holding the bubble on.

I apologize I confused everyone with the topic name. I didn’t realize there was so much interest in hygiene products. Hmmmmm unsure

I had an moc Leia with frosting on her leg. I put the card in the sunlight of a window and covered it with a paper towel. After checking it for about 45 minutes it had gone away. It came back a few weeks later. I think it's only a temporary fix. The cardboard is permeable so I guess moisture can get in and out.

I have a full house humidifier for my vintage wine and cigar collection (i'm not an elitist, lol) so I have a constant temperature and humidity in my house. You'd think that would have prevented it from coming back but I guess once there is moisture in the bubble you can never fully get rid of it unless the seal is broken.
