PostSubject: Stormtrooper Variant - What is this?   Stormtrooper Variant - What is this? I_icon_minitimeTue Jul 19, 2011 9:01 pm

I've been going through some of my figures and noticed that I have a few of these Stormtroopers. They look a little different, had a harder torso than others, have a date stamp but no COO. The peg holes are also circular with an octagonal shape inside. I believe there was a thread on RS in regards to the same Troopers but I can't even get on RS right now.

So here are some pics. Any input would be appreciated!

nope its a soft torso.
the PBP hard torso has a smilleline between to 2 traps on the back of the head.
also the deatils are shaper and more crips then normal stormtroopers.
but still a nice fig Wink

Thanks guys! I can clearly see the details on the hard torso compared to the other. Nice comparison pics.

So this is most likely from a trilogo card? What's the give away detail, the fact that it has no COO?

no coo is most likely trilogo.
why do you want to know this so badly?

Just out of general curiosity. I saw that I had a few of these and I'm trying to trace them back in my log as to when / who I got them from. Just my OCD as far as cataloging everything. I know they're nothing unusual, I just never knew where the no COO originated from.

but there are a faw no coo's out there per character.

for the stormtrooper what i know:
-pbp softtorso
-pbp hardtorso
-lili ledy
-topyoys

also the softtorso may not be ultra rare but its not common either.

I've got this figure down as coming from Trilogo cards, some Kenner 77 backs (marked Hong Kong) and some Palitoy cards too. (I wouldn't be surprised if it turned up on a few others as well). It would be great if anyone has photo's of this no coo Stormie MOC to share here?
Most importantly you can find them in blue text "Made In Macau" baggies, IMO making this Stormtrooper a "Macau variant".

Rog Smile

Thanks for the help guys. I guess I'll just call it a tri since that seems to be the most likely of the options. Like I said, it's just for my knowledge and cataloging purposes.

nope, just the torso, which is where it gets the "hard torso" name from Razz The arms/legs are normal. Do you have pics of the one/s you have with harder limbs?

Hi Dallas and everyone else,
While your all discussing Stormtroopers with out COO's, can you help identify two of mine please.

Both have the same lack of a country of origin.
Figure 1 has a harder more defined torso
Figure 2 has a softer torso
Figure 1 has a straight line at the back of his helmet between the 2 black patches
Figure 2 has a curved line.

Heres some pics

A few more details...Please notice that the PBP Stormie have cream colour plastic , "hard torso"(sharp detailed) and "hard limbs".The Lili Ledy stormie have the same stamp as the PBP ,also the hard torso BUT the LL one have NOT hard limbs. The paint job is also differnet( Sorry no comparison shot here Sad ) .

Some excellent info Javi!

As they share the same COO (no. 9, see below) , I am searching for a PBP Stormtrooper to make side by side pics with his Ledy brother for the LL discussion thread. Unfortunately most (all?) PBP Stormtrooper which pop up on ebay now and then are hard torso trilogos with soft limbs and a different COO (no. 10, 11).

Damn...this thread is going to make the variant collectors much more confused
Fiirst of all. This goes out to all spanish collectors...stop calling/naming your stormtrooper hard torso.
They look really differrent, and they have a creamy torso. The figures I used to call hard torso have also a detailed molded body, but the paint looks like it was painted with Tipp-Ex and have nothing to do with the spanish PBP Stormtrooper.
