| Some folks might already be aware of this, but posting it up in a few spots in case others haven't seen it. Starting off small, the idea is to go back grassroots to the sort of vintage toy shows the UK had in the 90's in pre-ebay days. Most shows you visit these days are dominated by modern era products, so starting on the 23rd of September is Farthest From, a Retro Star Wars toy event, where modern era toys are banned The event will be supported with other features of interest, including a 'pop-up' display, which is a user contributed display. A theme (which will be announced here) will be selected and it is open for anyone to bring items to display on the day which is connected to the theme. You never know what the display may feature as it is totally dependant on the contributions of the collectors. There will also be a short presentation on the UK history of Star Wars toys from Palitoy, looking back at how the line was handled and distributed in the UK. James Burns & Mark Newbold from http://www.jedinews.co.uk/ will also hold a panel discussing some of the exciting developemnts within the world of Star Wars currently. There will also be a limited edition trading card set to collect, as part of an ongoing series. 12 cards in the first set (first four available at the first show), each trading card will be connected to Farthest From, either by sponsor or topic/ theme from a show. The rear of the trading card will form a larger picture when all 12 cards are placed together. The first four cards will be available at the show on the 23rd and will be issued out at various points, or contribution to the show. (200 sets total, image below is not final artwork) This t-shirt will only be available at Farthest From, a slight twist on an old favourite, and is available for pre-order only (for pick up at the show) in adult sizes of small, medium, large, XL, XXL for £15.00 each Sunday 23rd September, 11.00am-4.00pm Farthest From Fordingbridge Town Hall 63 High Street Fordingbridge Hampshire SP6 1AS United Kingdom Outside of the forum you can also check the website for more details http://www.farthestfrom.com or the facebook event page: https://www.facebook.com/david.tree.102#!/events/427850070586453/ Hope to see as many of you there and get the ball rolling for more shows. All the best, Dave. |

| Excellent idea! Definately something that's lacking in the UK. I hope the event is a great success! |

Thank you, it should be good fun and hopefully everyone can be part of it with the display and get to learn through the panels/ presentations too. Long term, it actually might help bring in new collectors for vintage toys, which will be needed to keep the hobby alive |

| Ok,
a few things that might be of interest:
User Contributed Display: They'll Never Make That Again.
With the resurgence of interest of vintage toys, from Hasbro's 3,3/4" themed Vintage line to Gentle Giant's tribute Kenner Vintage Jumbo figures, there are just some items that will never see the light of day again. Choosing an item from the rich portfolio of Star Wars collectibles from 1977- 1985 which you think will never be made for the mass market today. The item that could be from the mundane to the ridiculous to display, but the quirkier the better. More details click: http://www.allthecoolstuff.co.uk/FARTHEST-FROM-The-Star-Wars-Vintage-Toy-Collector-Gathering/Features--Presentations/User-Contributed-Display-Theyll-Never-Make-That-Again__c-p-0-0-249-250-253.aspx
Exclusives pre-order is open: http://www.allthecoolstuff.co.uk/FARTHEST-FROM-The-Star-Wars-Vintage-Toy-Collector-Gathering/Farthest-From-Exclusives__c-p-0-0-249-261.aspx
The countdown has begun, although this might be small to begin, with the right passion and enthusiasm, there's no reason why we can't have similar meet ups like this several times a year.

| Awesome Jason! I saw the pics on facebook earlier and I was happily thrown back to the early 90s when conventions were still small and happy (and not too crowded) I would've loved to have been there for sure!

| Thanks for sharing the pics Jason. Looks like it was a good show and one that can establish itself as a regular. Would love to have attended too. The Palitoy early history slides look interesting with that fun bus and factory pics + Pali adverts _________________________________________________ Paul F,
