So I posted about a recent find - a Canadian special offer (hoth survival kit) AT-AT, complete with instructions/decal sheet and hoth survival kit box/baggie, and just now noticed something odd.

At first I thought the green underbelly might have been a case of oxidized plastic. But I compared it with some pics of a regular AT-AT, and noticed the underbelly on mine is absent of circular areas I've highlighted below (taken of both sides from an image I downloaded from the web):

If you look closely on mine, it is absent of these circles:

The circular areas that you have highlighted are stickers (which can be seen at the bottom of your unused sticker sheet).

I've had two AT-AT's with the same discolouration to the belly. When I took one apart to access the electrics, the inside was the normal grey colour.
I've also seen a few where the lower part of the leg has discoloured, but the upper part hasn't.

Ah, so those circle stickers are halves (semi-circles)? From the images I downloaded off the Web, it looked like there was separation between the plastic, as I couldn't understand how they slid the full circle sticker as mine is all one piece.

Yes, each circular sticker should be made up of two semi-circles. That is a very nice boxed example by the way! Very Happy

I had one too with this discolouration. I had it from childhood that was the normal grey and it just deteriorated over the years. The plastic also became very brittle and when it fell it broke in many different pieces Sad

So defintely deteriotation/discoloutation of the base.

I have seen these types being auctioned as 'Golden Belly', but this is nonsense imho Smile
