| Not sure if this topic has ever come up in discussion before. I did a quick thread search and didn't come up with anything. I picked this X-Wing Fighter up a couple of years ago, and it has a green domed R2-D2. Has anyone else ever seen this before? Is it just due to discoloration or is it custom from a previous owner???? I would love to hear from any X-Wing experts out there. |

| Can see a few paint splodges so I'd definitely say custom. Looks kinda cool though, green dome R2, maybe he was feeling airsick lol _________________________________________________ Paul F,

| Thanks guys. I was never sure if it was a custom paint job. As always, I appreciate your thoughts and opinions. |

| Alright, I have found another one today that is exactly the same colour green on R2's dome. I was checking out some local classified ads and the seller had this among the treasures. Could the painting of R2's dome have be done by Kenner Canada and now the paint is discolouring?? Mine and the one I found today are from the local area. The seller today is an antique dealer and I don't think he would have tried to customize it. The colour of the domes are identical. But in the new find, even the electronics button has turned green. Any more thoughts? I had this actually in my hand. These are pictures from the sellers ad. I didn't have my camera with me at the time. |

| There must be something in the air in Ontario that causes that. |

Im not so sure its custom, you can see the paint mask/app stops short on the bottom of the dome, if it was custom they have done a poor job and stopped 2mm uniformly from the bottom, i think it looks legit. |

| this looks like a later release of the x-wing as it does not have the LP logo on the box. That is if this is the original toy that came with this box. And i dont know if the canadian boxes had the lp logo on the first runs or fabrication.
R2's dome is green and it looks like the button that expends the wings into place is green too so i dont think it is a custom.
Looks to me like a variant... it might be super rare... like the x-wings that have rubber bands inside of the fuselage... |

| I just purchased my vintage X-wing and the R2 is also green, appears to be the same color as shown in the previous pictures. I am restoring it so have taken it apart and the green is uniform even inside suggesting to me that it is definitely a variant and not custom or sun fading. Interesting - I wonder why they would have made a green one?

| The colour blue be it paint or plastic has a tendency to go green with age if subjected to extreme weather conditions. An example of a green'ish plastic can be seen in the image below... _________________________________________________ * Wanted: Lili Ledy, Glasslite, Meccano, Kenner Canada Instruction Sheets, $$$$ waiting!! * Visit My Vintage Paperwork Limelight Click Me! * To Visit The Glasslite Guide & Discussion Thread Click Me! | I originally thought Clint's was a custom but since then there has been more research on degradation and I think that's what these are. On my Glasslite X-Wing I noticed the electronic push button and the wing-release button are both green while the paint on R2's head remains blue. My pic Looking online at other Glasslites there seem to be examples of both blue and green buttons. Enhancing this pic shows uniform blue to me. Pic: vectis.co.uk On the side panel of the Glasslite box it shows blue buttons. Bit off topic but I think this vehicle on the box might actually be a Kenner vehicle as it doesn't have the 'thumb flip' over the battery compartment the Glasslite shoud have - or it's an earlier stage design of the Glasslite. My pic. @Stef - I looked at your 1988 Glasslite catalogue pic, same missing 'thumb flip' and an odd mix of Kenner and mock up Glasslite stickers.
