Hi guys, has anybody got any info on the guy that makes these, the prices are going crazy on ebay.
The Artist as he calls himself put out a range of 'gay empire' suckadelic bootlegs a few years ago and since then they have sold at cristies and many go from upwards of $500 on ebay. :scratch:
Im hopeless at putting up pictures, i thought maybe a few of you guys might like top share any pics of your own, and any info you have.
If youve never heard of them you might like to google 'sucklord/suckadelic bootlegs' and check them out.
They would not be for everybody lol, im sure Joe might have a few, i love the odd ball stuff so these interest me, although having a card back in bright pink saying gay empire on it and homotrooper under the pink stormtrooper might look pretty damn funny in my collection, id almost have to hide it when mates come over lol.
Anyway, just thought id bring it up cause ive never really heard any talk of them on the forums, cheers..

I googled them and apparently sucklord does all kinds of freaky customs that aren't Star Wars related as well . Here is one that made me laugh ...

I have heard of them and actually read a blog or something about them at one time. If I remember right the guy that started the line started making the bootlegs with the intent to draw attention from Lucas in the hopes that he would be offered a job by Lucasarts. I will look around a bit and see if I can find where I read that.

Yeah I've heard them. I don't consider them bootlegs in the traditional sense. More like freaky silly customs.

This guy was supposed to be one of the sponsors for the Best Collection Awards. After some discussion by a few of the members, his brand of "art" was deemed inappropriate for an all ages contest.

I personally have no interest in his shit, and I find some of it very distasteful.

I find it hard to believe Hasbro has not tried to get this guy for copyright.

Lol Derek, I would've loved to have tried to win one of his creations on the BCA But I get that an all-age board might see his work as 'inappropriate'. I really like some of his work and appreciate what he's about as an artist. I don't really see his creations as bootlegs as such, more as in-your-face pop art pieces made in limited runs.

I agree 100% Paul

His work certainly isn't for everyone and definitely not for all ages but I can appreciate any artists work . The way I look at it most great works of art through history were likely considered to be distasteful or offensive to some people along the way

The longer he can get away with sticking it to Kenner/Hasbro the better - just because I love Star Wars doesn't mean I have to like big business companys

I don't really have a problem with some of his stuff, but the items he was going to offer were deemed offensive by a few other staff members. The items you guys have pictured would have been okay.

Dang you guys showing some classic SuckLord pieces there! You guys should check out his Series Called Toy Lords of ChinaTown, some dope stuff. And a new part is dropping I believe next month. I personally know the SuckLord he's the coolest and down to earth dude I've met & funny as hell. He really brought this bootleg stuff to the forefront and made it acceptable in the art world, well in underground street art. Here's a pic of me and the lord at his old Chinatown studio before he expanded.
