So in the "Kenner Babe is a Man" thread. It got mentioned about Stromtrooper fakes. I made a quick inquiry about these fake troopers. But my question got lost in the middle of the war that started in that thread. Something about "My dad is bigger and meaner than your dad." or something. Anyway are there other fake stormies out there now besides the Poon ones that caused such a stir a couple of years ago? I'm out of the loop on this stuff and I don't visit any other SW sites besides TIG anymore and am just curious.

I love I have my own trolls on other forums. It's awesome. I love it even more when I hear they have been stung by reproductions. Like reading Pete Gowdy thought his knock off cheap shit Transformers were official reissues. Funny stuff indeed. Some of these guys need to get stung. Preferably with a bus taking them out.

Yes there is more than one style of repro stormtrooper.
Contrary to popular belief i dont think the first lot have anything to do with Mark Poon, he has denied it and i believe him, mark would have done a better effort with the packaging of the first lot that people are blaming him on, yes he had some for sale but i just dont think they where his.

The first lot had a flat spot on the torso where the arms attached, the second lot doesnt.

IMO both are poor repros, with this second lot (crazy brand) being miles off the mark for somebody that has an eye for detail.

As for June's comments about not supporting them, I did order a set for the site. I do PP disputes as they consider TIG to be an authority and like it or not I need to understand these. I want to see the guns, feel the materials used,etc.. I'd prefer they just go away but I can't see that happening so better to understand than ignore.

Knowing that John is getting some, & will share his findings with TIG means that I don't need to get any, & I'm sure others will be the same. So, through John 'taking one for the team' he will be potentially reducing the numbers of these being things sold.

I think regardless if 'vintage collectors' buy them or not..someone else will anyway. Not everyone is as die hard with their collecting, has the same ideals etc.
IMO It does make sense or, at least can't hurt, to have some in hand to check against Stormtroopers you do buy that are sold as vintage. Not that I myself have to worry about it so much., but people who do buy lots of vintage figures etc may want to. It's great to have online guides etc, don't get me wrong. But nothing can compare to having two items side by side in front of you when it comes to authenticating if something is real or not. Especially when it comes to reproduction items of high quality. I mean, you can't tell me some of you wouldn't like one of every reproduction weapon out there, instead of having to come here to check if your latest buys are indeed fake.
