Joblot Oddities Empty
PostSubject: Joblot Oddities   Joblot Oddities I_icon_minitimeTue Sep 17, 2013 10:13 am

I recently bought a joblot of items off ebay. Delighted as I only paid £12 for numerous parts and weapons but also a seemingly unnoticed Falcon Jedi Ball arm which are often demand a more than £12 alone.

Within the lot came two items whose origins I'm unsure about.

1st up, on the right, is the small Chief Chirpa Hood which is a good 10-15% smaller than your average hood. So small it will fit nicely inside the normal hood. Is also a slightly different brown and is stiff unlike the usual bendy hood. Where is it from?

Also on the right in the lot came this Squidhead gun. Slightly different grey colour, with the wider handle and differing barrel from the usual gun. Floats and is not repro. Once again, where is it from?

Oooo, hood might be top toys. What's inside the hood? ( a big circle?)

Hmmm, looks too "clean" to be top toys, maybe a deformed hood due to heat/light?

However please post a photo of the inside.

It does have circle. Saying that so does the normal hood from the original pics. Below is inside the small hood.

The grey Bespin blaster appears to be V1 or V1 Leli Ledy.

http://www.imperialgunnery.com/bespinblasters.htm

Joblot Oddities BespinBlaster_V1_Grey

Joblot Oddities BespinBlaster_V1_Grey_LL

EDIT: Is light grey so is same as top in image.

Anyone know which Squidhead origin the V1 belongs to. The other grey blaster appears to be a V5 dark grey which even though common still don't know it's origins.

So little time so much to learn. study

Thanks for the pics. Doesn't seem to match any of those as they are really rough looking.

Mine is way too small to fit on your normal Chirpa. Any modern vintage style 3/4 size Chirpa's released?

Also seems too good a match and job to be any kind of reproduction.

Is it possible that it's shrunk somehow?

Personally I don't think it's shrunk or heat damage. Unless the heat or other cause has:

1. Changed it's colour.
2. Shrunk it perfectly, uniformly to make a smaller match except for the smaller face opening.
3. Removed all flexibility and made it near solid.

I'm tempted to put one of my spares in the oven to see what happens. :cool laugh:

Vintage Chirpa hoods come in slightly different shades of brown & vary in flexibility:

This an image of it from the top. I thought it was just some play wear or chewed bit but does appear to have some kind of moulding circle not found on my other hoods.

Joblot Oddities <a href=Joblot Oddities P1010009_zps4ac44152" />

I've also noticed that the edges are clean with no excess material or flaps.

Thanks for the link. I've just checked all my Chipa hoods and found I have an A, E, small circle and this oddity. Oh, no one more thing to collect.

The mark on the top is where the hood was attached to the mold sprue. The circle inside is the injector pin mark, which pops it out of the mold tool.
