| COO images updated to show the related COO family only, thus reducing the amount of images making them easier to understand. Additional notes added to COO descriptions. _________________________________________________ * Wanted: Lili Ledy, Glasslite, Meccano, Kenner Canada Instruction Sheets, $$$$ waiting!! * Visit My Vintage Paperwork Limelight Click Me! * To Visit The Glasslite Guide & Discussion Thread Click Me! | Princess Leia CapeAnother mystery , I have two GL Leia capes in my collection which are not identical?!?! However I believe both are genuine. Cape #1 - Cream'ish (maybe discoluration?) - Feels rubbery/more flexible Cape #2 - White - Feels similar to Kenner but no pattern/zipping The cut is slightly different see the comparison photos, now let me explain why I think both are genuine. Before Cleaning Before cleaning (with a soft sponge and warm soapy water) - Brown stain on the outside - Pink stain on the inside - Stain & Figure positions match. Note right hand leg bends out slightly (Cape 1) After Cleaning - Staining due to plastic degrading? Maybe secreted oils over time due to the slightly different chemical composition of plastics used by Glasslite? - Staining common to both capes (brown/pink'ish in colour) - Staining matches figure position (#2 slightly off but cape is ripped so it doesn't sit properly) Cape #1 came from a childhood collection, Cape #2 a well known Glasslite collector. Q: Has anyone else noticed staining on their GL Leia Cape's? _________________________________________________ * Wanted: Lili Ledy, Glasslite, Meccano, Kenner Canada Instruction Sheets, $$$$ waiting!! * Visit My Vintage Paperwork Limelight Click Me! * To Visit The Glasslite Guide & Discussion Thread Click Me! | Darth Vader COO'sAfter all the searching to find and confirm the second GL Vader COO, I discovered to my surprise one of my latest figure purchases is the missing one!! Differences- The "9" in the date is lined up. - The groove in vaders trousers run through the centre of the copyright symbol. - Less scarring _________________________________________________ * Wanted: Lili Ledy, Glasslite, Meccano, Kenner Canada Instruction Sheets, $$$$ waiting!! * Visit My Vintage Paperwork Limelight Click Me! * To Visit The Glasslite Guide & Discussion Thread Click Me! | Thanks for the photos James There is also a second COO for the Glasslite Han Solo, this one is smooth without the dots on. It's labelled as II-2b in Wolff's latest guide. http://swspaceclub.com/wbobafett/coo-guide-3-0/anh/han-solo/#a Yet again pale & pink flesh parts, I want to say discolouration but I've also owned figures which were a mixed on parts ie, pale neck, pink head. Glasslite = ODD at times, the capes believe me are a pain in the a$$, I'm yet to find two matching one's with identical cuts, they all seem to be slightly different (ie 1-2mm wider/longer). More needed, and more figure Julio!! _________________________________________________ * Wanted: Lili Ledy, Glasslite, Meccano, Kenner Canada Instruction Sheets, $$$$ waiting!! * Visit My Vintage Paperwork Limelight Click Me! * To Visit The Glasslite Guide & Discussion Thread Click Me! | Snowtrooper factory damaged?I've owned six snowtroopers, and two have suffered the same damage to the cape clip on the left hip. I didn't think much to it at first however I've now spotted several other examples. Does anyone else own a damaged clip figure? _________________________________________________ * Wanted: Lili Ledy, Glasslite, Meccano, Kenner Canada Instruction Sheets, $$$$ waiting!! * Visit My Vintage Paperwork Limelight Click Me! * To Visit The Glasslite Guide & Discussion Thread Click Me! | Hey Stef, I only have one GL ST and his left clip is broken, but doesn't look like the way yours do (mine is still partially there). Sorry about the crappy shots - its dark here right now. If you want better daylight shots, just ask. and the COO money shot... cheers! |

| Cheers Jay. Here's two recent ebay auctions, both with the left clip broken. I seems odd that left clip if often broken considering (A) the rifle is held in the right hand so you would expect to see additional playwear on the right, and (B) the figure was supplied without a skirt, so again you would expect to see less place wear in this area compared to a Kenner snowtrooper. However until a carded example turns up we can not cleanly identify weather this damage is down to playwear or damage during manufacturing. It is worth noting however that the plastic used by Glasslite does appear more brittle then the Kenner equivalents. _________________________________________________ * Wanted: Lili Ledy, Glasslite, Meccano, Kenner Canada Instruction Sheets, $$$$ waiting!! * Visit My Vintage Paperwork Limelight Click Me! * To Visit The Glasslite Guide & Discussion Thread Click Me! | Darth Vader COO images used with the permission of wbobafett. His coo guide can be found here http://swspaceclub.com/wbobafett/coo-guide-3-0/ NOTES:The Glasslite Darth Vader belongs to COO family #III this family contains two main COO marking variations. The original mold tooling was stamped "HONG KONG" where the production for the earliest version of this figure took place. During the products life and possibly as part of a cost reduction exercise production was moved. There the country of origin "HONG KONG" was filled in, leaving a scar where the "HONG KONG" stamps once where. The last modification, possibly a repair took place when the tooling was shipped to Brazil and Glasslite reworked the tooling leaving a slightly different scar pattern on the Glasslite figures. The scarred COO shown on the far right is unique to Glasslite, therefore the closest COO relative is the Kenner scarred version which is used for the comparison below. Darth Vader: Glasslite on the right Darth Vader: Glasslite on the right Darth Vader: Glasslite on the right Darth Vader: Glasslite on the right Darth Vader: Glasslite on the right Darth Vader: Glasslite on the right Darth Vader: Glasslite on the right Darth Vader: Glasslite on the right Darth Vader: Glasslite on the right Darth Vader: Glasslite on the right Darth Vader: Glasslite on the right DIFFERENCES:Compared to his Kenner counterpart, the Glasslite Darth Vader has: - Moulded in harder plastic - The black plastic used has an overall more glossy appearance - Different spray mask on chest plate - Paler red paint detail - Different spray mask on belt buckle with unpainted black raised circle - Packaged with a semi-transparent v8 Lightsaber & unique cape - One of the scarred COO's is slightly modified compared to Kenner's ACCESSORIES:The Glasslite Darth Vader came with a semi-transparent v8 Lightsaber compared to the Kenner v2 Lightsaber. Darth Vader: Glasslite Lightsaber on top / Kenner Bottom Darth Vader: Glasslite Lightsaber x2 DIFFERENCES:Compared to the Kenner lighsaber, the Glasslite lightsaber is: - Duller in colour - Thicker Tip - Larger in length - Semi-transparent with flecking - Floats during the water test WATER TEST:- Both lightsabers float when placed in water - Kenner lightsaber sinks when tapped Darth Vader: Glasslite/Kenner Lightsaber water test Darth Vader: Glasslite/Kenner Lightsaber water test CAPE:The Glasslite Darth Vader came with a cape similar in overall size to it's Kenner counterpart however it has several distinguishing features. Darth Vader: Glasslite Cape on the right Darth Vader Cape: Comparison Darth Vader Cape: Comparison Darth Vader Cape: Comparison Darth Vader Cape: Comparison DIFFERENCES:Compared to the Kenner cape, the Glasslite cape has: - Large rounded bottom corners - Wider space between the arm holes - Smooth glossy inside finish with a faint 'manufacturing' lines, Kenner has a duller finish. - Smooth matt outside finish, Kenner has a cross-hatch pattern and zips when you run your finger nail across it. _________________________________________________ * Wanted: Lili Ledy, Glasslite, Meccano, Kenner Canada Instruction Sheets, $$$$ waiting!! * Visit My Vintage Paperwork Limelight Click Me! * To Visit The Glasslite Guide & Discussion Thread Click Me! | Hey Leia, I'm over here!!Pictured here are 3 Glasslite Leia's which are a mix of the two known COO's. If you notice Leia's head does not sit in the forward looking 'neutral' position but at approx. 21 degrees. My personnel collection of Leia's variants is unfortunately somewhat tiny, therefore I ask the great TIG community once again for your help. Another quirky Glasslite trait or common to certain COO families? _________________________________________________ * Wanted: Lili Ledy, Glasslite, Meccano, Kenner Canada Instruction Sheets, $$$$ waiting!! * Visit My Vintage Paperwork Limelight Click Me! * To Visit The Glasslite Guide & Discussion Thread Click Me! | Mine actually has a bit of the Exorcist in her... Seriously, if you mean her head seems to have a "home" position (rotate the head and it seems to want to settle in a spot), then mine actually is like that too... and she has a short leg to boot OH and her torso is NOT that white by a long shot!!! Anyway............... |

| Most GL figures with soft heads (Han, Leia, Vader and Luke) have cracks in their necks. You can also find this one Poch figures as well...which is in both cases a sign of the poor production! What leads to those is the "flashing" on the pins of the heads. These wer not removed, because. who cares...they cant been seen anyway!!!" The problem is that the softer plastic gets hard in time. the flexibilizers tend to diffuse out of the plastic. So if you move the heads now the necks (that also got harder and more brittle in time) will crack! So Jay: PLEASE do not move your heads on GL figures...this is russian roulette my friend!! Leia looks in that way because flashing prevents the head being staright forward...IMO.. PS: I am in for all your spare Stef...you know what I am looking for if you ever have done research and want to get rid of those |

| The clip on Snowtrooper: It wasnt for great use on those figures because they came without cape. IMO these were pulled so roughly from the steelmolds that these eventually all broke already there. It would also explain why they are mostly broken to the right (on their left side). The same workers probably always freed them from the steelmolds in the same way I have seen also some Uzay that are always broken to the right (their left side).....funny.... |
