Hi folks.
I don't know if any of you folks guys knew this already.. The rifle which came with the YPS Snowtrooper is not only an Action Force weapon but also based upon a real weapon, the British EM-2 Assault rifle:
This is the red (Q Force ) version.
The rifle's also available in silver (Ground Assault & Arctic Assault figures) & white (Mountain & Arctic)
Ground Assault troops conducting a stop & search during a patrol:
Cheers & thanks fop looking T'shot

I knew about the Action Force origins of the YPS gun, but not about the other available colours in this toy line. Learned something new. Thanks for sharing, T’shot.
BTW: Great diorama pics. Clever idea to put a Micro Machine ATAT in the background to increase the 3D effect.

Great pics chief, I mentioned that rifle just a few days ago here
The rifle like many Actions Force and Gi.Joe weapons is based on a real gun, in this case as you said it's the Enfield EM-2
Clearly the inspiration behind the British Armies current gun, the SA-80 Should have stuck with the SLR.

@ Marco, the gun was available with several of the Action Force figures in several diffeferent colours, the gun was also available in an accessorie pack where the guns came on a sprue, which is where I beleive my YPS Stormies Gun came from as it still has the sprue cut quite clear (near Stormies Hand) don't know for sure, but the carded ones always look cleaner.

The Enemy Battle Gear modelled by The Black Major:
And here's another Star Wars/Action Force connection..
Some M.O.C.Baron Ironbloods's have been found with Han Solo blasters, Promotional material shows The Baron holding the weapon so it must of been a planned release & not one of Palitoy's Friday afternoon specials.
Check out the German released toys too, many figures were issued with 4-LOM weapons.

I knew about Star Wars Han Solo blaster that came with the Baron Ironblood. Stefan has picked up a Baron MOC recently and showed it in the latest purchases thread. Sure he can dig the picture up.
Cool that the 4-LOM gun also got a second life in the Action Force line. That was new to me.
Keep the great info coming, T'shot!

Thanks to Mr Dave Tree's painstaking research & Jim Marshall's wonderful Blood For The Baron website many other Star Wars/Action Force connections have come to light, especially in the prototype stages of A.F. design.
If you know where to look many of the A.F vehicles contain small details 'borrowed' from Star Wars, for instance part of the underside of the Sattlellite Defence clearly originated from the Falcon's radar dish.

The Sealion's engine hatch is suspiciously like the Scout Walkers top hatch.

Great info and superb photos! In France, the Action Force line was held by Miro Meccano - I think you can see some of the figures T'shot mentioned in some adverts here... Action Force - The Vintage Toy Advertiser
Another (slight) connection: The French ads for this line were frequently featured in Pif Gadget comic... which is related to YPS comic (which of course gave away the famous Snowtrooper figure). YPS is the German version of Pif Gadget.

After seeing the thread I nipped over to my brother who has a massive British WW2 militaria collection to take some pictures. You may recognise his WW2 British Sterling Sub Machine Gun.

Now with the bullet magazine removed and shoulder brace folded up.

Nearly all the weapons used in the film were real British, German or American WW1 WW2 weapons.

Gotta love the Sterling! Nice piece chief the Han Solo blasters are the infamouse Mauser 'broom handle' C96 machine pistols, The Stormtrooper Rifle seen in the movie's are made from German MG32's and I think some where MG42's as well. The sandtrooper rifle is a Lewis Gun, Boba Fetts blaster is made from the body of a Colt S.A.A 'peace maker' and another interesting choice was the Palace Blaster which is actually just an old break barrel air pistol with an addition to the muzzle.
James Cameron took a similar approach in Aliens, he also went with the MG32 for the smart guns, the body of the flame units is a M16, the Colonial Marine standard issue side arm is just an unaltered Heckler & Koch VP70 and the best movie gun of all time the M41A Pulse Rifle is a combination of three guns, the machine gun is the good old Tommy Gun, the model used is the M1A1. The grenade launcher part is a Remington shotgun (forget the model) incased in the front end of a Luigi Franchi Special Purpose Automatic Shotgun (S.P.A.S) or as Arnie called it back it 1984 12 Guage autoloader! Cameron went with the M60 for the avatar guns.
A couple of other classic's Robo Cops gun is a Beretta M93R, the Cobra assault rifles are Barrett .50cal M82A1 Sniper Rifles.
Anyway, enough of that, keep the Action Force pics coming chief they're great, Cheers also for the Blood For The Baron web link, I've often wondered if there was a good reference site for Action Force but never found any good ones.

The palace blaster, I kind find the right model, buts one of these old air pistols,
If he had have got a shot off, I don't think it would have had a great deal of effect on Jabba

Awesome stuff! I love those kitchen table battle set-ups!
This is what I love about collecting toys.. discovering all of connections, however slight, between the different toys I collect. I mean there's about 3 different toy all represented, in various ways, just by the Space Force Satellite Defence vehicle, an Action Force vehicle which uses parts (either directly or developed form) G.I.Joe & Star Wars toys
The authentic feel of the original trilogy (& Aliens) is because of the props, the weapons look real because they are real... in fact Star Wars got me interested in military history, discovering more about all of the weapons & uniform/costumes led to wanting to learn more about the real items & events. In turn going to museums & living history events make you realise just how accurate those old 12" Action-man/G.I. Joe uniforms & equipment set were.

Superb, is it deactivated or a fully working example?
We're not allowed to have working fire arms, where I live, so I have to make do with this old Kenner version. It's seen better days & is missing it's D clip:
I've seen a few MG-34's, in simulated combat action, @ events such as Victory Show over the years:
The Star Wars props dept' didn't alter them very much, did they?

The MG 34's where completely unaltered I think. I actually have a pic in a Star Wars book somewhere of one of the prop Stormtrooper rifles, and welded to the side it has two 'hammers' from a pistol of some kind, so random

Yeah, by law he has to have all of his guns deactivated and in some cases the barrel blocked even with a firearms licence. Although he does have an artillery cannon that is unblocked and able to fire blanks.
It's a shame his focus is mostly British militaria as I'm sure he'd have example of the mauser & MG's otherwise. You can see him proudly fire his cannon at various WW2 reenactments around the UK.
The collecting bug runs strong in my family. My mother has it. I have it....

Folks interested in some of the Star Wars/ Action Force product crossovers can see some pictures from Farthest From II where there was a small display to accompany the presentation I did there
