1st FX-7 COO? Empty
PostSubject: 1st FX-7 COO?   1st FX-7 COO? I_icon_minitimeSat Jan 04, 2014 5:17 pm

Hi all,

I'm trying to find out what the 1st FX-7 COO was and hoped some one out there knows or has a 31 back loose one from childhood ( a Palitoy 30 back one would be even better but I won't hold my breath on that one)?

I think I'm right in saying that the COO guide on this site isn't necessarily in order of first appearance (as I know this is difficult to verify with ought opening a MOC), but maybe some of this information has been taken from childhood collections or maybe opened cut cards.

I've included the COO guide for it here so that people can mention which COO they have if anyone can help out with this question.

Hope to hear from anyone was info.  Very Happy

Ian

The COO guide Wolff has created won't necessarily be in order of release by character so don't look at that guide as that. In my own guides, I don't consider release history when I "organize" my findings.

That said, I can't speak to any of your questions directly, sorry, but what I do know from the guide from Mr.Palitoys' cardbacks guide (THE definitive list)  is that a 30B (for example) is not an early release card in that there should be ~41 figures that could be found carded on the 30Bs)... I don't know what 30A Palitoys might yield however.......... so Palitoy might not be the best place to look for early releases for a particular ESB figure. (30B Palitoy is not earlier than 31B Kenners just based on the number of figures listed/shown on the back).

I wish I could add more, but I hope that helps the search a bit.

cheers!
Very Happy

I cant speak for FX-7, but I think you may be fighting a loosing battle chief.

Bespin Luke has 3 COO families, all are Hong Kong (some where later altered to have the COO removed).

In short the point being, the first card Bespin Luke appeared on was a 31 Back B and all three of those Hong Kong families can be found on that card making it impossible to determine which came first really.

I know it's not the figure in question but I imagine the general practise was in many cases the same, FX-7 has three COO families and like Bespin Luke, all have a easy to spot unique sculpt. If you track down enough pictures of 31 Backs, I wouldn't be suprised if all 3 can be found.

In terms of Palitoy, the earliest Palitoy figures where the same as Kenner versions anyway (as in unaltered stamps) so that probably wouldn't help.

Hope this helps though in some way.

Thanks for the replies guys. I've already spoken with Wolff about his guide and he said the same thing about multiple COO's existing for characters that could have been released at the same time. I thought I would just double check here incase anyone has a confirmed 31 back that they could at least let me know what COO theirs is.

It sounds like I probably won't get one definitive answer but I'm still interested in hearing from anyone who does have a confirmed early issue one.

As for the Palitoy one, I know it's going to be a Kenner one but I thought it might help to narrow things down a little. I've put a thread up over on SWFUK about first issue Palitoy figures and it's looking like they were released around the same time as the US first release. I've no idea about the 20 or 30 back A ones but thought they might also have been released close to the US release.

Thanks again for taking the time to put your thoughts down and I'm still interested in hearing what people find in their collections with these 31 back FX-7's  Smile

Hi Wolff,

Thanks again for your input on SWFUK, I was just hoping to see if anyone on here had a confirmed 31 back (a,b or c), that they could let me know their COO information to see if any sort of pattern appeared. It's for a Palitoy 30 back reseal that I'm putting back together and I always like to get things as close as I can when doing so. I'm not even sure what time scale difference there was between UK and US releases for this figure so I might even be looking for the wrong card back info!  Laughing

Cheers for now - Ian

Thanks for letting me know you're findings on this subject. The COO # 2 seems to be one of the most common I see so it makes sense that it's also the case for you.

Thanks again  Very Happy  - Ian

You might be able to work out the mold families using pics from here: https://www.imperialgunneryforum.com/t4757-the-tig-fotw-thread-fx-7# I've seen #3 & #5 on NZ32 backs

Thanks for sending the reply, it's most useful and I'm surprised that the NZ 32 back has the COO's you mentioned as those were the two I least expected to see!

I can see from Wolff how it looks like these things differ so much but at least now I have some more information to go on.

Thanks again  Very Happy
