YOUR FLEA MARKET TREASURES FleaMarket_zpsd67b8085

An and I visit a flea market a few times a year. It is big fun for us to spent an afternoon hunting for some Asian woodcarving (An) or vintage Star Wars (me) between tons of other second had stuff.

When I am lucky and manage to find some vintage Star Wars, it always puts a big smile on my face. It really doesn’t matter at that moment whether I have found a vintage R2 without decal or a very yellowed X-Wing. Just finding them is pure joy.  Very Happy

When the toys are still in relatively good condition, I sometimes buy them. Probably they have spent a few decades in oblivion till the moment they were taken down from the attic to be sold at the flea market. So I feel like they deserve a better home then, where they are more appreciated.  I know doesn’t make sense for an adult, it must be the child inside me, and sometimes I listen to him. LOL!

You know the feeling?

If so, then please share your small flea market treasures in this thread. In this thread it is not about financial value or condition, just the feel ‘good value’.

Cheers
Marco

Like you Marco I go for the fun of the hunt, Here in Victoria we have a huge one that starts in April and runs til September it is held every Sunday. I have found some really cool items there I found a staff sort of thing I still don't know anything about it just that it's hand carved and has some interesting workmanship on it.

I do find the occasional vintage star wars items, The best one is I found a falcon it was missing the Jedi ball and the hidden floor but the motor worked which is what I was after, all I paid was $5 so that was a really good find.

The main thing is I just enjoy going out there and just having fun.

Great idea for a thread Marco.  Very Happy

I haven't been as active this last year, but prior to that I was regularly attending flea markets, car boot sales and local auctions. I've had my fair share of bargains, and hopefully there will be more to come. Like you, I get pleasure from just seeing vintage SW in the 'wild', whether I make a purchase or not.

A couple of things that immediately come to mind are a chap at a flea market selling a selection of original vintage weapons / accessories for £1.00 each. Needless to say I bought the lot. On another occasion there was a father & son selling off the sons childhood collection. I missed out on the figures, but I had a big smile on my face when I purchased a near complete AT-AT (just missing one chin gun) 2 complete AT-ST's, a complete Palitoy X-wing & a complete snowspeeder (all near mint) for £30.00. Happy days!  Very Happy

I had that Darth Maul head, and now it's driving me mad wondering what happened to it    (old house probably  No  )

I don't have a local flea market, there is the car boot sale  a few miles down the road but I don't drive so I rarely get to it, I do have a local market hall though and in the vaults is a little shop called Dax's Toys  Very Happy
I've been going here for years, it's an Alladins cave which at some point in the future you will get the chance to see as part of a little competetion I'm going to run  Smile
Anyway, over the years I've become friends with the owner and have bought many bits and bobs including the odd worthy pick up, a couple of years ago I scored a hollow cheeks Tusken in excellent condition for £4

Bit of a story here.... A few weeks ago a women he knows came in asking if he could help her sell some M.A.S.K. toys, this ultimately ended wih her basically saying, look, you sell them and we'll split the taking 50/50. Turns ot that back in the late 80's a guy used to live with her who used to draw toys, he'd buy them, open them, draw them and then put them back. He must have got them all from the same place as they all had the same hand written price tags on ranging from £2-£5.
The first box she brought down was awesome, it contained: Goliath, Volcano, Bullet, Iguana, Manta, Billboard Blast, Pitstop Catapult and Buzzard all complete and mint in perfect boxes.
The second box has a slightly upsetting story, these have been filling up the attic for years and laast year in order to reduce the amount of space they where taking up, she took them all out of the boxes and threw the boxes away  Sad  The box contained: Rhino, Switchblade, Gator, Piranha, Condor, Jack Hammer, Stinger, Vampire and Firefly, such a shame about the boxes  Sad
Anyway, I've bagged a few of these with a limited budget this month  What a Face

YOUR FLEA MARKET TREASURES Gator_11

YOUR FLEA MARKET TREASURES Pitsto11

YOUR FLEA MARKET TREASURES Vampir11

I have the boxes for the Manta, Billboard Blast and Pitstop Catapult safe and sound. Although I didn't get these for a bargain, I did pay perfectly reasonible prices for them. Rhino and Jack Hammer are currently stored safely behind the counter until next months pay cheques clears  Smile

Gator is missing the top gun, but hopefully it will be kicking around in the next box, because there is still more to come  cheers

Anyone remember Matchbox Linkits??? Because she also brought a huge box full to the brim with them, lots MISB.

Great thread Marco  Very Happy

Like the General , I don't have a Flea Market close enough to visit regularly  No

I hit garage and Estate sales every now and then though - here is probably my best estate sell find :

YOUR FLEA MARKET TREASURES Ideal_10

It was priced at 50 cents but since it was the last day of the sale it was 1/2 price and I got it for a whopping 25 cents  lol!

Glad you liked the idea for this thread, guys. Very Happy

And thanks for all your contributions, was a big pleasure to go through them.

Let’s keep this thread rolling with new stuff which are found ’in the wild’.

@Alex: Fingers crossed Rhino and Jack Hammer will still be there after the next payment cheque.

Well I bought a lot of Belgian comics and a few toys last sunday. I only have the pic of the Cherilea vehicle made for vintage 12" Action man figures (Palitoy).
I will sell it to get some funds for vintage star wars

Yep. Smile

Simply couldn't resist, it's such a simple small toy which is brimming with bucket loads of charm, plus, it's just like the one I had as a wee boy (way back) in the 70's.

not really from a flea market, but amazing story for toys lover I want to share with you. It is from the grand mother's house of my wife who died, There was a room for kids that was foul of toys of the 70/80's, and nobody wanted them. they are the toys of her cousin and brother. And they were very carrefull of their toys, box, notices...here is a small part of it, but there is also playmobils in box, lego, more game&watch, mask, transformers, gobots, zodiac wariors, gostbuster, micro-machines...Of course I took all I could. Never had so much toys in one time, so does my kids. I sold few stuff, but really enjoy the rest of it, to put them all together, like lego castel... saddly nothing from star wars

Yeah, admittedly, he's a Darth Vader knock-off most serious V.A.M. collectors avoid...I think he's a great figure.

Ah great figure, as vintage action man collector I really love it. It did not have its original pistol-saber? The pistol-saber is really a very sought after item as it was used also for the French Action Joe Harlock figure!
Nice catch. cheers
Last sunday, I came across 2 boxes of Playmobils, Lone ranger figures, Kinder eggs and Timpos. I have to sort out all that stuff now ! I will post pics tonight.

This is a really great thread, so good to see so many cool toys and collectables found out there  cheers

I'm a big fan of mooching around at flea markets/car boots/charity shops, looking for retro toys, games and comics..

When I find some time I'll add some pics of the goodies I've found.

Hi Love to watch this thread. I am big fan of fleamarkets!

Well done Paul on your finds!

I bought this huge Playmobil box (with lone ranger, timpo, Britains, and other stuff) 2 weeks ago:

and this last sunday find was rather small: together with those transformers, the lady sold me the accessories for the "robots"...  lol! First time ever that I can buy weapons with no figures!

My latest pick up's from the M.A.S.K hall. These are less perfect than the other ones. The original 'perfect' Switchblade was sold but the lad who bought it traded his old one in which broken at the back (the bit that holds the wings back) but I managed to dismantle it and repair it.

Alex (Blueberry) - cheers, nice haul! Was there any Playmobil goodies in the orange box?

Alex (General) - congrats on the latest M.A.S.K. stuff. I saw my bro-inlaw's childhood stuff last year and was impressed by some of the cool vehicles.
