 | Subject: Plastic BEHIND figure? Tue Jan 21, 2014 1:39 pm | |
| I recently received a ESB figure that had the POP cut out (in a circle) but the card was in really nice shape, has the price sticker, etc.
But when I looked at the hole in the back, I noticed a thin sheet of clear plastic that ran the length of the figure, behind Leia (It's the Bespin Leia). I have never seen this. While I look at the front of the card and see no signs of it being a reseal, this makes me wonder... WTH? Is this something that they had done before? Or is this a really great reseal job on a so-so card?
I'll post photos later when I can (this evening after work), but wanted to ask if anyone has seen this or know of this (plastic sheet).
Thank you! |

| Hey man, You're all good on that. I can't say what figures, why or when they started, but the Leia Bespins have this on the 31B and forward judging by the MOCs I have. At first I saw it I thought it might be there to help prevent the figures from sticking to the cardboard or preventing paint rubs. But I have a few Bespin Leias with the back of her hair showing rubbing marks on it. I also have one where she doesn't move if I turn the MOC upside down so its not there to prevent sticking. Either way, it is perfectly fine. For reference from my stuff: 31B 32B 41B 41D 48D ROTJ 65B ROTJ 77A cheers! |

| THANK YOU! I feel better. This was for my little one, who LOVES Leia... so far she has three MOC Leia's... we are only missing the original NH Leia in her white outfit and Hoth Leia. I'll put pics up tonight. My first 31B back!!! |

| Lot of figures with capes get that too. I've had a few with it. I assume it's to keep the cardback ink from running _________________________________________________ SHEESH!!!!i am not raping anyones childhood!!!! - Darren P.S. | I had a ROTJ Tusken Raider cardback with the plastic sheet. I remember them as a kid and wondered why some had them and some didn't. So, it's the vinyl capes!
This also explains why I had a Tusken with green crap on his cloak. |

| Also happy to chime in and confirm this was used on numerous figures with vinyl capes to prevent the vinyl and the printed ink from interacting. I've got an ESB Vader, an Aussie NN offer ROTJ Ben Kenobi, an alternate photo ROTJ Vader cardback all still with the plastic. Additionally I have a SW Toltoys Leia, Ben Kenobi and Tusken Raider cardbacks all with evidence that they once had the plastic sheet attached. The same evidence also on a SW Ben Kenobi and Sandpeople and ROTJ Tusken Raider cardbacks. Some of my other cardbacks might also have evidence of having the plastic sheet at some stage but I can't see well enough from the photos I have archived and all the cardbacks are packed away currently and not easily accessible. |
