Hi.  I cannot seem to find this on the internet.  Was wondering if anyone here could identify this.  It has been in my bookcase for about 30 years, give or take.

I have a Star Wars miniature from the early 1980s... <a href=I have a Star Wars miniature from the early 1980s... Sd1_zpsamydcqd0" />\

Thanks,

Steve

welcome welcome to TIG

It's a Japanese metal model kit made by the Tsukuda company. These came packaged in pairs like X-Wing vs TIE Fighter, Falcon vs Slave 1 etc, but the Star Destroyer you have was packaged on its own. Neat item. Can I add your photo to our Japanese collectables thread please?

Yes, of course.  Go ahead and add this to your photograph gallery.

I am somewhat surprised, however.  I should think that in a forum where the quality of a collectable (and its value) rides on the absence or presence of something as simple as a dent in a packaging bubble, you would already have pictures of this item in much better condition.

I bought this back in the early 1980s, when I was stationed in Japan.  As my career was 22 years long, I consider myself fortunate that this model still has all the parts and the instructions!

Regards,

Steve

This is one of those specialty collectors type of item. Obviously Paul has seen this before, but may not have a pic because of the specialty side of it. Paul does have some Japanese items but his main focus is X wing not star destroyer. This would be one of those items either a Japanese focus or a star destroyer focus would have. (haven't seen anyone who focuses on star destroyer stuff only by the way).

Thanks Centurion13. That's cool you picked up this item from Japan. Did you bring back any other Star Wars Japanese stuff. Feel free to add to them to the thread I linked. What else toywise do you remember seeing over there?

Bryan (Trappedtexan) is right, you don't see these very often -even the SWCA (the bible of SW collecting) doesn't have a pic. Your example is a bit beat but honestly you would expect that in many cases for a 30+ year old toy still in its packaging. And you have the instructions Cool
