| I haven't been on the VSW boards in a long while but I see that in all the main boards the selling of vintage is not the same like it used to be. I'm forced to go on eBay aka evilbay to search for VSW toys. Not really into that because of all the repro crap that's flooding the market. I like to buy from fellow collectors on the boards. That's how I almost had a complete loose set a while back! (Which I sold ) but now I'm back and I guess I will have to just take it easy and wait for some sales from all my brothers in Star Wars lol. Sorry for the post I was just wondering. |

| June, I think Facebook has played a large part in that. Some stuff still goes through the forums, but it seems to be slimmer pickings all the time. I guess a lot of forum guys forgot where they used to pick up stuff and with the ease of Facebook and the amount of people who see it on there, I guess it is an easier option. Kills those of us who aren't on there though. _________________________________________________ Bryan

| Yeah that sucks cause I'm no on Facebook either They should at least post here also! But I guess that's the way the world goes now. It's sad because when I stopped collecting it was a lot different, and just like that the boards are tumble weed zone! |

| I love the boards . Im not on facebook either and wont ever be , anyways im also one whos not an ebay hater . I actually have met quite a few sellers and buyers on there that dont sell repro crap, chefbenji, solance forever, and thewattoshop come to mind gor some nice foreign variants. Ebay just happens to be the norm now but its like everything else once in a while you might have a bad dealing but if you take the time to read the sellers feedback and research what your buying it usually turns out good. At least it has for me over the last 18 years or so that ive been on it |

| Yes as said already the facebook volume is intense. With prices skyhigh, I have seen facebook sales posts with prices I would be embarrassed to see here on TIG ( really high IMO ) BUT they sell within a day- a feeding frenzy. But that is the current market. |

| I'm glad I upgraded my collection back in 2009, around the same time I joined this forum.
There are figures I bought back then, AFA VC Jawa, Blue Snag, YPS Stormtrooper, etc... that are selling for three times as much now.
It's crazy!!!!!
I would agree that Facebook groups and selling on Facebook are killing a lot of the forum communities. It's one of the many reasons why I stopped my sports autograph collecting forum.
I think these things tend to go in phases though. As Facebook wants more and more control of the content being posted in various types of groups you'll see people revert back to their old forum stomping grounds. |

| The sales on facebook are a double edged sword. I hate buying from there because I don't know half the sellers, unlike here you can build up a picture of what someone's like and if you can trust them not to knowing sell you repros, But selling on facebook is great (I'm guilty of it myself) you almost have instant sales, but yeah it is unfair on those not on there. Only down side is some of the crazy ways you have to respond to sales ( is it sold the first to PM you or first to write in comments, each group is different and it gets very confusing) The pact I've made to myself is that if it's a nice item (Tidy MOC or boxed vehicle) I will list it here first (or SWFUK) before it goes onto facebook. |

| As someone who doesn't use Facebook, I wish more people would list on the boards. I think a big reason a lot don't is ease of use with Facebook (that's what I hear anyway). This is disappointing though as the guys who are on the boards got their starts there buying and selling there, and now they disregard the boards and bypass them for the most part. I think eventually the people who really want to connect to their collections find their way to the forums as the forums is where all the research is and is archived in a way so it is easily found. _________________________________________________ Bryan
