| Hey fellow TIG members!
Looooong time no post! =(
So a little while back I started mulling over a what if scenario that could lead me to possibly sell off all or parts of my vintage Star Wars collection. One of those scenarios came up over that past few days. IF you know my other passions, you might be able to guess what I'm referring to.
The biggest thing keeping me from not wanting to sell off everything/anything is having something to potentially pass down to my son as he gets older.
I can ramble on and on about all of this... but I'm curious as to all of your thoughts?
Thanks for the advice!

| My son has his own collection of 'beaters' as much as I would like to think I'd pass my collection onto him- no chance. I'll sell up & cash in one day ( not for baseball thou ) |

| He does have a bunch of vintage beaters and neo classic figures he plays with on occasion. At a year and a half he's still a little too young to fully enjoy them.
And yes... if I sell... a small part of what I make would go towards buying some Cubs world series memorabilia. Baseball and Cubs are my first passion over Star Wars. THE rest of the money would go into the bank for my Lil guy. |

| As a sports memorabilia collector as well, I can tell you buy that stuff when you get the chance. When "your team" wins, everyone always thinks more titles are on the way but no matter how unstoppable a team might look, repeating is really hard. Vintage Star Wars stuff, while no longer in production, is overall more easily obtainable than some of the sports memorabilia that could pop up that you would want. There were only so many bases used in a game or rings given to players, etc. Other than some real rarities like a removable rocket Fett or complete mint DT Vader, most of the "regular" 92 vintage SW figures you can replace easily.
It's your call of course. If you can keep the SW figures AND buy the memorabilia, that would be the best option in my opinion.
If you have Vlix and want to sell him to me, PM me! |

| I know the feeling James been thinking about that myself. But depending on the situation which could be different for everyone the decissin to sell is yours in the end. For me I will start with my BSG collection then go from there.

| I don't collect anything else than Star Wars stuff and I would never sell the important parts of my vintage collection. At the moment I'm not selling anything and I have never thought of doing it either. For now I'm just collecting. Not selling and I don't see me selling anything anytime soon. |

| Can't thank you guys enough for your input and advice. I posed this question across several platforms and here is what I am leaning towards doing.... - I am going to keep the first 21 loose vintage AFA graded figures. This will allow me to hold on to something to pass down to my son. AND if one day he gets the urge to collect, he can pick up where I left off. - I am going to sell everything else. Starting with figure #22 through #96... all of my AFA graded and ungraded loose figures including the "rare" variants like... vinyl cape Jawa, blue snaggletooth, YPS snowtrooper, etc. - Some of that money will go towards a new sports collectible purchase or two. The vast majority of it will go in my Lil guys savings account. |

| You get the best of both worlds with what you're "leaning toward."
I think it's a good idea. |

I think it's a good idea. Thanks! Much appreciated I think it's only fair that I give members here first dibs (since so many of your were instrumental in helping me rebuild my collection)... so keep an eye out for an extensive for sale list soon. |

| Things I may keep, if ever in that situation, would be childhood stuff (suppose it has some 'nostalgic' or 'emotional' attachment, toys bought for birthdays & Christmas from parents or Nans (Grandparents) etc. Think you're on the right lines, best of both worlds (especially looking after the little tyke) Good luck with any sales. |

| Only other thing I would add is: If something you have was a little bit rarer or harder to come by, hang onto that as well. You will always be able to get the common stuff back again down the road if you want to get back into it.
Note, expensive does not always mean rare either. Yak face is expensive, but you can get one any day of the week. |
