When it went live it was first come first serve, which was admittedly somewhat confusing. Since the site is only helping to run this one and not in charge of this one all I can say is sorry guys. If we do another instead of a checking interest maybe we just launch the thing with a stipulation of "x" number of spots must be reached for it to be a go and if we don't get the numbers we don't run it. Not sure how we can address it but i'm sure we can think of something.
I think a good idea is having a min. post number. I was lucky to win one of the first raffles in 2012 but in order to be in the raffle, you had to have something like 25 posts (meaningful posts, not just random things).
That's something we may look at for future. In the recent past we had some giveaways and those also had new members jumping in. Some i think have hung around but most were one time wonders. We want new members and member participation so not sure how to get a good mix. We can discuss that going forward if we do another. Yea, the goal is to bring new people in and keep them. I was looking at out of those 31 entries I posted about, only one has more than 4 posts (8 and he has talked about other posts). Most have one (1) post and some have 2. The other ones who have 2 posts have only posted in two contest raffles. Not really taking part in the site, only trying to win things.
I like how it was five years ago when you had to have at least 25 posts, meaningful posts, before you could enter. It made it more fun. You got to know people and it brought those people into this page to be a part of it and not just here to take advantage of the low number of people entering raffles. I totallybagree with a minimum post count, If your only joining to try and win something then you may find us vets won't participate as much why should we. If you are interested in joining then you will have no effort in doing 25 meaningful post at all. We have it in place for selling and buying so if were not going to make it for one thing then we should get rid of the minimum for selling as who knows these one hit wonders might stay after the sell as well. Just my point of view as well. Larry |

Larry Sounds fair to me too However, in this instance there wasn't a minimum post count, and there was an email invitation to take part. It's a bit rough to tar the newbies with the 'these one hit wonders' brush for participating as stipulated, before they have a chance to prove otherwise. Just my point of view as well Barry |

| I agree. For this drawing (and some of the previous) we didn't stipulate min post counts because we felt we wanted as many participants as possible. Making a minimum post count for something like this means someone likely can't join and participate so it would not bring new membership. The only way to possibly do one and allow new members in with a minimum count would be to say we are holding one of these in 30 or 45 days. This creates the issue of the posting getting buried or forgotten.
Honestly I want new guys to participate, I just want them to stick around also. Maybe a way to do it is for so many post count you are allowed to buy 1 spot and only can purchase multiple if you have certain number of post but then when we make to many rules it takes the fun out of things. I don't have the answer right now and to be honest I don't want to drag it on in this thread any more.
Coach approached us wanting to revive raffles and have fun. This was a success in my opinion, and not just basing that on the outcome.
Going to go ahead and lock this thread so we don't suck the fun out of coach's raffle. If we decide to do another we can open a new thread for discussion prior to it. Thanks to all the participants and most of all to coach for having the idea and bringing forward the prizes. _________________________________________________ Bryan
