| As some on the forum collect watches I figured I would start a space where they could share their collections if they want and perhaps a bit of why they like the watches and whatever else they want about the hobby. _________________________________________________ Bryan

| @Broke@Craig TAnyone got any watch knowledge to drop on us? I don't have many watches and don't actually even wear one. I have a couple I can get pics of and throw in here but don't even know much about watches. I think I have a star wars watch even that someone gave me for Christmas last year. Of course it's modern. I can dig it out too though. _________________________________________________ Bryan

| I do have one watch that I found at a second hand stood. All I really know is it's a C-3PO Gold Tone Bas Relief Analog Watch that came out in 1997, I know the strap was changed and the episode 1 tin is also missing. From what others said about it I believe it was given to the crew. It does make sense as the movie itself was released in 1999, but the filming of it started in 1997, that's about all I know. | That is a really cool item. Wonder if it really was a cast and crew item? Thanks for sharing Larry. _________________________________________________ Bryan

| I have been trying to find more info on that watch for you Larry. So far all I can come up with is the archive entry showing it, but still looking for further.

| Hi Folks, @trappedtexan Thanks Bryan for setting up this thread Sorry for not replying until now. I was trying to dig out the old photos of my Omega wrist watch from when I bought it. I will upload them below in a moment. - Are you going to post yours . If folks have the time, it would be good to get a mix of all watches (star wars related, non star wars related, retro, vintage, mechanical, antique, etc.). I'm going to try and do some reading-up so that I can share some info on the basics, but if there are experts out there already, please feel free to chime in too. It would be good to also post about any interesting clocks you have, I have a little bucket list on non-Kenner related items I would like to get and the Bradley Time Clock would be up there! Bradly Time C3PO @Arohk (Larry?) Thanks for making the effort to post the first photos, I love the combination of analogue and star wars for the watch it looks very cool. Is it a wind-up or battery powered watch? That is really interesting about it being a cast and crew item, I wonder who the original owner was. They obviously liked it as the strap has been changed and the box was thrown away. It looks to be in lovely condition for 20 years! |

| That’s some cool watch related paperwork Paul! I was thinking how much £8.95 is worth today that seem expensive for a watch, but I remember digital watches being all the rage. I even bought myself a modern golden casio retro watch a few years back just to see it again. Love the superman (marvel) watch adverts and the Omega advert! Please keep them coming if you have more!

| Yet another reason I love TIG- Everybody is really down to Earth and enjoys collecting a diverse array of items. Thanks for sharing! I'll start off by sharing my "daily driver" watch. Others to follow. |

| I dnt really collect them, just happen to have them. This means I am not up on terms associated with watch collecting, so can you tell me what is meant by "daily driver"?
It is a cool looking watch. the moon phase one is also very nice. I can see what moon phase means, does it also have like the partial moons on it? I assume it would. _________________________________________________ Bryan

Tex- I just meant that I wear it everyday to work- (Comparing to a car you drive to work on a daily basis instead of a higher end car you may drive on the weekends or special occasions.)
As far as the moonphase, it progresses very slowly to the right every few days and will become partially blocked and eventually the moon will disapear beneath the "white" watch face. When there is a new moon (no moon visible in the sky) the watch will only show stars until the next moonphase begins. So it progresses through the Waxing/Waning phases of the moon as well as full and new moon. I hope i'm explaining it right.

| Ohhhhhhh, so a watch to wear daily. I am a bit dense; thought maybe it was terminology that a watch collector might get. Cool. so the moon picture is the same on the inner piece and just changes to show it disappearing behind the outer piece. Neat. I have not seen this before. I don't really know much on watches. _________________________________________________ Bryan

Tex- You would be amazed at some of the watches on the market. There are some watches that go for upwards of $50,000. Some of them have multiple time zones so you don't have to go through the exhausting (yes, I am embellishing) process of adding or subtracting hours. any time a watch has a feature like a moonphase it's called a "complication" because it truly is complicating to include something like that in a precise mechanism like a watch. The movements on automatic watches are hand made and are extremely intricate.
The back of an automatic watch also indicates the number of "Jewels" in the movement. The higher the number of jewels, the higher quality the watch (Generally). Jewels are used in place of a bearing because they will offer a much longer lifespan and extremely low friction. Today's jewels are synthetic ruby or sapphire but many many years ago they actually used real Jewels.

Nice Collection Broke! Nice watch winders too. Breitling is an amazing brand and I have to agree with you. I also have a Tag Heuer Formula 1 that I forgot to take pics of. What are your thoughts on Rolex, and Patek Philippe?

| Wow, lots of neat watches in here. I like the Mickey ones. Kind of a play with a childhood character putting it in a more adult oriented product (younger kids probably don't wear watches and have harder time using them as intended). _________________________________________________ Bryan
