| Hello all, I've had an incomplete Jabba set for a while. Finally made it a priority to get the parts and re build it. Well, all the parts had arrived over the last few days. Tonight I went into the collection room / office and cut open the last of the packages to arrive. It was well packaged, which was pretty refreshing. Until I got it all opened up. What did I discover? a REPRODUCTION Trap Door! I had no idea these were victim of reproduction. My mind was blown. I thought at first maybe it was just painted, because sometimes kids do stupid things to their toys. But no. This is a full on, clear cast and painted (improper color, even) trap door. I spent a little over $7.00 for the part and shipping. A bit disappointed, to say the least. I have messaged the seller, but of course the listing say "no returns". Anyway, here are a couple pictures of the door. I still can't believe someone out there is doing this. SMDH. |

| You can get your money back through the eBay Money Back scheme as long as you paid by PayPal.
Just go to Resolve a Problem > Return the item > then select your reason and choose "Doesn't Seem Authentic". Give a detailed explanation and add photos.
Under this type of return the seller is obliged to give you a full refund including postage paid, plus provide you with a return pre-paid label. You shouldn't return the item until you have received the postage label.
Assuming the seller agrees to your refund you're all sorted, if not eBay can step in after a certain number of days. If the seller does not respond or refuses the return they will ask you to return it tracked and refund you the original amount paid plus postage and you will only lose out on the tracked return fee.
For more info see the Refunds section about half way down: https://pages.ebay.com/help/buy/return-item.html |

| This is very bad news. Fortunately it is a small amount of money this time. Every purchase should be carefully studied from now on. Paypal can take money from the paypal account of the seller but not from his bank account ( in case of conflict ). As a seller i had a problem once, i said them they have no authority for that and a penal claim is necessary between seller and buyer. I hope your seller leaves money on his paypal account for a refund I would like to spend an hour in a clinic room with one of these thieves ( you know, the room where you can not hear screaming ) |

| Thanks all. Yes, I'm aware of the ebay return, should the seller not work with me.
I got bit by the price hunt. Looked for the least expensive part, as anyone would. His photo was just out of focus enough that it was not obvious it's a repro. I never imagined the trap door would be subject to repros. But as was stated, nothing is safe anymore. |

| Sorry you got stung, Derrick. I also didn't know fake trap doors were being made. Shows that the classic 'stick a blurry pic of repro in there and say nothing' is still alive and kicking. Can't say I'm surprised at anything vintage SW that gets the repro treatment these days tbh. A few years back when we started adding to the database things like AT-AT Parts, Dewback Reins and the Imperial Troop Transporter Battery Cover I was surprised. But now, no. Does the seller have other vintage SW accs with 'blurry' pics?

| WOW!
This really takes it to another level. I always think there is a bottom to the repro market and then BAM another basement door opens _________________________________________________ SHEESH!!!!i am not raping anyones childhood!!!! - Darren P.S. | After exchanging a few emails, It's pretty obvious the seller will not take a return. I'm going to try and contact ebay to see what they will do. I have an email I can forward them showing he will not accept the return.
I checked the seller's items for sale and this is the only thing he has listed. The really discouraging part is by looking at his feedback, he has sold at least 10 more of these. And the buyers are loving them! Lots of comments about these being "great" and "perfect. Maybe he's had a few friends "buy" them? |

| bad news
you can argue on the fact that the seller has several copies of the item. one or two objects is possible but a dozen is very suspicious, especially that he probably does not have the entire jabba playset
it's a matter of principle. Do not give up. |

| Bloody hell, if there's money to be made on a trap door then you only have to think for a moment what else can be made...
Is there a list or data base on reproduction parts? I can imagine vehicle and ship guns, playset parts and canopies already being mass produced.
I think if there's one major threat to the longivity of this hobby, then the flood of fake shite is it. |

| I think I have seen the ice blocks from the hoth playsets have reproductions also, but I cant find the pictures. It seems they will reproduce anything these days if there is money to be made from it. _________________________________________________ Bryan

| VICTORY!
Today was the day I could finally get ebay involved. After three or four messages from the seller telling me to cancel the return because he refused to refund, I'm sure he is going to be pretty upset. I wouldn't be surprised if I get another message from him bitching about ebay giving me my money back. |
